Smog/Air Pump Hoses (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Would someone please confirm that my Smog Pump hoses are connected backwards?

While installing new vacuum hoses today, I noticed that figure 4-79 of the '78 Emissions Manual appears to show the Smog Pump's LEFT hose running to the ABV and the RIGHT hose running to the AIR CLEANER.

However, my '78 FJ40 came with the opposite hose placement - e.g. the LEFT goes to the AIR CLEANER and the RIGHT HOSE goes to the ABV.

Am I correct - e.g. Are my hoses connected backwards?

Pull off the hoses and run it. One sucks and should go to the air cleaner. One blows and should go to the ABV.

The right side is the suction side, it should come from the air cleaner, the left side is the blowing side, it should go to the ABV Valve that then goes to the check valve on the Air Rail. The picture is correct.
