Since when do customers camp out for opening of new Chick Fil-A?

Apparently people are camping out waiting for the local Chicken fast food place to open. I guess they get free food or something. Parking lot was filled with tents. Pretty funny i had to take a photo of the guy that deployed his tent in the drive thru. ha

Would be funny to pull into the drive thru with your LC and just sleep inside of it lol

LOL! Yeh - bring the little Weber grill, have all sorts of food in the fridge, pitch the Outback porta privy and set up the PETT toilet. Wouldn't even have to leave the line! :eek: :D

Man, I feel bad that I never tried the one down here when it was around. I have heard it is excellent but camping out in the Drive-Thru that needs to be in the adds!

Isn't there still one over on Sports Arena?

Eat that for a year and then make an appointment with the cardiologist to get the arteries roto-rooted.

Nightline did a story on this about two weeks ago. I guess the owner, the big guy, comes to every one of these and he's the one that usually sets up his tent in the drive-thru lane, says it's quieter on that side!

Apparently it's huge in some parts, and you get a coupon for a free sandwich every week for a year. There are people that come from all over to camp the night, it's pretty funny. Their big deal is that every store is closed on Sundays, company rule. Apparently they make as much money in 6 days as most fast food places make in 7. Good on him.

I do like the idea of a full-on Expedition 80 Explosion in the parking lot though!

Cool. Dan.

CFA has increased sales and profits every year since the 80's. This includes 2008 and 2009 (even thought the sky was falling). When I moved out to CA in 2004, I was a corporate employee. My job was "Grand Opening Supervisor" Our team actually started the "First 100" promotion for the CA grand openings to create more buzz as we were pioneering the expansion out west. At the time, this was only being done in CA and AZ. We had so much success with it that they took it national (CFA was only in 38 states at the time - probably still about the same but I am not sure). Dan Cathy (President/CEO), the son of founder and current Chairman/owner Truett Cathy, does come out to as many of the openings as he can. This could have changed over the years but we would give the first 100 people a box with 52 combo #1 meal coupons. This equates to 1 combo meal a week for a year (although you could use them anytime you wanted to...at any CFA location). We would see plenty on wild stuff during the parking lot camping (couches, pool tables, ping pong, projection screens, full bands, video gaming, etc.)

It really is a great company with great visions, values, and philanthropic behaviors. If you get a chance, it is worth camping out for.

Alright Brent you are in charge of the next SoCal 80's M&G. A camp out at the Laguna Niguel CFL. 10 or so cruisers in the lot would be Sick!

:lol::lol::lol: Sounds good! :lol::lol::lol:

Now all I need to do is find out when the opening is scheduled and if they are still doing the freebie coupons.

Smitty - can you find out. :D
