I picked up some parts from the local plasma plasma cutter today and was pretty excited so I thought I would share a couple pictures. They are 1/4 inch plates to replace the stock PTO covers which will be welded to a "cradle" to hold a bushing on each side. Once I get them welded up and everything situated under the cruiser I should be able to run some tubing from the bushings on the cradle to some mounted on the frame. I know they are crappy cell phone pics and the garage is a mess. Right now progress comes at the expense of cleaning.

i like that- simple and effective

I'd use some "Right Stuff" gasket maker to keep her sealed

Covers? Plural? I know of only ONE side PTO cover on the t-case, but your pics have two plates as if there were two side covers. Please elaborate.

I can't recall the physical difference between the 420 and 465. I am planning on making a cross member for my 420/D18 combo and I like your idea.

Nice job, I wanted to know what motor are you using I am running a 465 with my 2F just using the bell housing mounts. I have had concerns about the weight but so far its worked out well. Cant wait to see everything mounted

I am running a 1972 350. I welded up the bracket tonight but it will be a little while before I have a chance to install the new transmission.

Cross member not needed with F motor but needed for V8. For added safety, I'm going to mount my tcase with an over the counter mount and use my factory skid plate to help support things. The skid plate becomes the cross member. Easy enough to do. Put chalk or wet paint on the bottom bolt of the tcase mount, put skid in position and it self marks the spot where to drill. Might have to use longer bolts with a spacer to reach the inside of the skid plate. Paint mark = drill.

I’m starting to think about doing something along these lines. I have propeller mount on the back, but I didn’t use an AA adapter. Instead, I think it’s a promac(I think?)plate adapter and rotates the tcase counter clockwise. This results in and ugly propeller installation. I could mod the propeller to clock it, but the sm465 mount seems more stout.
So if @Mopdog is still around, do you still like this mount? Has it caused any issues?
Anyone else done this? Any difference in set up?
For reference, I have a 350-sm465-3 speed case.

Good point WS. I was going to incorporate a rubber bushing between the bushing and crossmember to allow flex. Right now I’m just coming up with the concept. I was hoping to hear from others that had done this as well.

Interesting idea archie. I was just looking at my setup, and was trying to find a way to run a brace under the transfer case adapter to the frame. Now I'm thinking something similar to yours except using a couple of 3/8x1 steel straps on top of the NV4500 pto covers to the top of the frame through the urethane bushings, then I wouldn't have to be so concerned with gasket sealing.

I’d love it if there were a kit. This is still on my list, but it keeps getting pushed down further. If you find someone to make the plates and cradle bracket, I’d be interested in that.
