Update: all of the paint and metal work is done, the frame was slightly bent as stated above and the rear cross member needed replacement. My claims adjuster friend gave me some comforting information about frames. He stated that most frames on most vehicles are not 100% straight from the factory and that modern frame work is extremely well done. He said there is a good chance that the frame on my truck is straighter now than it ever was and wouldn't hesitate owning the vehicle (he is the most picky person I know about cars and car quality). I trust is expertise on that and it is comforting, The shop also prides themselves with reaching perfect 0.0s on their machines.

They re-clear coated the rear quarter panels so now all my pin-striping suddenly stops. When they redo the tint I am going to have the truck buffed and waxed, should look brand new for CM. Just need that rear bumper to get here in time......

Jonharis: you going to go badge-less on the liftgate? Or maybe just sombrero, or just land cruiser (not both)? No v8? Black looks good and I think it looks good sans emblems. Good write up by the way.

I went the plasti-dip route. I really like the texture and finish of this stuff. Need an opinion. I just sprayed the entire pure and think it looks good just like that. Should I leave it or remove the dip on the parts that are painted black. I am not reattaching the V8. The others attach to holes in the body so leaving them off was less attractive of an option. Hopefully it holds up to the power washer etc.

Just got
Notice that my front shocks have shipped from ADS and the rears will ship
Monday from Fox. Tinting goes on Tue/Wed then the whole truck buffed out on Thursday. Hopefully Slee stuff will arrive by Thursday so it can be installed on Friday. then I get to spend the weekend getting it ready for CM.

@ everyone else who posted your support of traveling with children in a safe and responsible manner. Thanks for your comments and support. I feel the same way you do about safety on the trail vs highway/in town.

I have an (expired) first responder cert and maintain CPR/First Aid and AED. My wife is an RN and works is NICU/LD/OB and has extensive infant specific training and continuing education. I would encourage everyone to take a first aid/CPR class at a minimum and if you can make the time commitment, First Responder/Wilderness First Responder.

Ok back to TECH please. A couple more posts and this story should be just about wrapped up.

The dip should hold up fine to a pressure washer. On youtube theres a guy who did his rims then pressure washed them and they were fine. fwiw I did my rear pieces on my 80 two months ago and never washed them since and they are holding up great. No one believes me that its plasti dip until they touch it and feel the texture.

Edit: cruiser is looking good btw. Making me wish I went 100 > 80.

Jon, keep the full plasti tailgate trim, I like the look that way. Having the LAND CRUISER inside will look even better than my setup

Done. The truck is coming together nicely. It is done with the exception of paint. I was pretty disappointed the the shipping company didn't get the bumper to us today. Now I have to wait till Monday and have no control over what time it gets delivered. Poor service when typically you can get shipping done next day easily from Denver to me. I don't think Slee should have to pay the shipping cost on this one. As it sits I may get the truck back Monday and even at that it won't be Complete. Tint /detailing not done. And I won't get everything on my list done for CM. stressing instead of relaxing.

Oh well. The plastidip looks awesome on the black truck. Off to do the front grille now.

Jon, I'd be willing to pick up that bumper for you and deliver it Sat. Is it still at Slee? If there's a way we can get this done let me know.

Thanks! But the bumper is already here. It's litterally 2 miles from me locked in a truck an the shipping company wouldn't let me get it. So there it sits till Monday and who knows when at that.

Jonathan,

You need a hand bolting it up? I'll be in the area and would be more than happy to help you with the install. Let me know. Don't stress, it'll happen...we'll make sure of it. Even if I need to give you my rear bumper. Wait, that won't work....anyway, we'll figure it out!

Well this story has come to an end and the finished result is incredible.

Jon looks great, glad its all coming together for you!

Off Topic but when can we expect pictures of the new RR mounted? Every time I come on the site I'm secretly hoping you have the rack pictures up LOL...

Looks like new. Hopefully my rear Slee will arrive this week.. Exact same configuration as yours. How did you tap into the light power?

Have fun in Moab!

Good Lord, Jon. I step away from mud for a couple of weeks and come back to find a story like this....wow.

I can't tell you how glad I am that you and the kiddos are ok. Truck looks better than ever to boot...a great outcome to an otherwise crappy situation.

Bout time you showed up!

SoCal, I tied the license plate light into the running light wire on the passenger side.

Good to see the Cruiser back in one piece. Plasti-dip grill?
