I can't answer your question, but can I come by the shop when you install it and check it out in person? I'm drooling over the new Slee front bumper and want to see in person before laying down the green backs.

Question...

I had my bumper drop-shipped to my friend's shop so I don't have the instructions, and Christo hasn't posted a .pdf on his site yet.

Do I need to cut any, some, or all of the crush cans off the end of the frame rails on a 2000?

I want to remove the bumper and do whatever prep I can before going down to have it installed.

Thx!

PM me your e-mail address and I will send you the PDF instructions.

Sure. If you have Joshua install yours too... ;-D

The shop is in Auburn. I'm hoping to get it done this week but that is going to depend on the shipping lead-time for the winch.

Who is Joshua? What's the name of the shop? I'm 10-15 mins from Auburn.

What winch you putting in it? I'm planning on the Warn 9.5XP right now. It's load rating is way underrated and much lighter than the M12k.

OK, i'm bumping this thread to turn it into the "Slee Front Bumper Picture Thread". All posts after this should have a picture of the bumper in the post. KTHXBAI.

(came in here hoping to find pix of hosers truck....gonna have to keep searching.

I'll save you the search. Still need to mount my winch. I have to say, it's an excellent bumper and I would buy it again.

Looks great. Do you know the approximate weight of that bumper? My truck is on a diet right now.

Oh and BTW is that a custom front skid plate? You should be proud of that thing, maybe even retire to the wall in your garage. Who ever said that the stock skids can't take a beating.

I don't know the weight of this bumper but it is in the ballpark of the ARB Combo bar. There is much less hoopwork and more clearance but the bumper itself uses thicker steel and more reinforcements.

I must've not been too good this year because Santa didn't show up with the Slee Skid plates I asked for.

thats awesome hoser, where are you wheeling in those pics?

That trail was Barrett Lake.

I see the delicate massaging your skid plate has taken. What does the oil filter look like? Has it been relocated?

The oil filter's stock location is tucked up and out of harm's way. I'd be more worried about the radiator.

Sonk, yes, we ran the entire trail and back. There is a very nice camp area right next to the lake at the end. We were definitely the fullest sized rigs. The trail is really tight for the 100. Mostly LC40's and YJ/TJ/XJ Jeeps.

Here are a few from A trip from Grand Junction to Moab and back this weekend via Glade Park, Dolores River, and John Brown Canyon.

I installed the bumper about a month ago. Install went very smoothly. after cutting grinding and painting the frame rails everything else was easy. Used 3 shims on divers side and one on passenger. This gave me a little over 1/2 inch body gap with nothing touching. I would have liked a smaller gap but I think it looks really good. 2005 LC owners rest assured, you wont have to do any sheetmetal alterations (although Slee told me that the next batch is designed to compensate for clearance on some models). The wire hanging down on the first photo is from the fog light. I have since zip-tied them in place and would like to use for future driving light additions or 20" Rigid light bar. not sure if the gauge or fuse can handle it though.

Performance wise, I have no complaints, the form and function are great. clearance is awesome. I adjusted my tire pressure from the door jam 29 to 35psi to compensate for the weight. There is no noticeable wind noise or rattle and the front feels stable. I'm going to crank the torsions in a week or so for a little more clearance.

Next on my list of upgrades is full Slee skids, 2.5" heavy lift, Slees new drawers, M12000 and the Slee rear bumper without the tire carrier or ladder (for ease of access, I have twins and a dog). I will probably do the rear bumper last because Christo says he is working on redesigning the hinge for the tire carrier/ladder, perhaps with a gas strut to hold open. If it remains easy to take of for daily driving I would consider the whole setup.

Enjoy the pics.

Here I'm testing the hydrodynamics of the bumper at the Dolores River crossing near Dewey Bridge. It fails to create a good hydroplane at low speeds. :D But looks great doing it.

Just lay down the greenbacks! you won't regret.:flipoff2: IMO much better form and function than the ARB.

I'm estimating between 115-125lbs. Not a flyweight. Christo stated that he may be looking into an aluminum version for people who don't need the bomb proofness.

Very nice. I too am drooling!

Was that the trip the rock kissed your cladding even though you were trying to push it away?

Come on Christo................

Aluminum one please. I am trying to keep the Lx light and agile but strong as well.

No, that was Strawberry. This trail was not as kind on the 100. Rohitash and I have matching damage. We took different lines but ended up with same result.

I've really noticed no difference in handling or MPGs since installing. Still getting 12-13 around town. 15-17 on highway. It may be due for a torsion bar tightening to get it level but that's it. Again, if you aren't doing serious wheeling, aluminum would be a good option. I keep reading about fully decked out rigs weighing 9k and not liking what that would do to passing power/towing.
