I have a 70 fj40 3spd on the column. The transmission arm has worn out to the point where the slave cyl rod end is slipping through. The round tip of the rod can no longer rotate and is creating an angle that tears the seal in the slave. Been thru 3 slave cyls. Before discovering what is happening. I’m looking for a way to create a new cup or seat in the trans arm without pulling the trans and replacing the arm. Any ideas appreciated.

I would hammer a thick washer into a concave shape (to receive the slave cyl rod), and slip it in place. Be sure the anti-rattle/return spring is stout enough to keep it from working its way out. To further retain this washer, you could also reach down from the top (and up from the bottom) and tack weld the washer to the iron clutch arm. Don't worry to much about dissimilar metals (steel to iron) and all that jazz - just buzz it with a welder and move on.

You may have to 'tune' the shape of this concave washer to the (no doubt uneven) worn nature of your clutch arm so that the slave cylinder push rod is co-linear along its operating axis, and stops wearing out so fast. Lightly grease the rod/arm (now washer) interface to limit wear.
