A guy knocked my side view mirror off. It seems to be broken at the pivot but I can't really tell, there may be parts missing.

Regardless - are all the older 70-series mirrors interchangable? I have an 11/1984 mfg date. The EPC lists two:

87910MIRROR ASSY, OUTER REAR VIEW, RH
87910-90K02FENDER1$144.54
87910-90K03DOOR (11/1984 - 09/1985)1$145.04
87910-90K06DOOR (10/1985 - 12/1989)1$246.88

But they don't seem to be available.

Cruiserparts.net has one, but its listed as 1990+ http://shop.cruiserparts.net/index...._info&cPath=112_333_118_337&products_id=34922

Thanks.

I wonder if you could use the top of the mirror from a fj62 (since they're pretty common) and sub it on the base from your 70 series. Externally they look the same but I've never tried it.

I have compared them side by side and It looks like a no-go to me.

I have ordered and installed that mirror on my bj73 from 1985.works fine looks better than the old smaller style in my opinion

I was comparing my 1988 BJ74 (power mirror) to a 1988-90 FJ62 mirror.

Hi Drew,

Sorry to hear about your side mirror. All the early mirrors (the small squared ones) will work, regardless of the year. The doors remained much the same from the beginning of production and the mirror holes on the doors are standard to all 70-series side mirrors.

You could buy the newer (also referred as Elephant Ears) style mirrors and they will bolt right up to your doors (which is what I did with my 1985 BJ70). I can't remember for sure when they switched from the squared style, but as I've mentioned, they will bolt right up to your doors with no modifications. Worse case you might need to buy both to make them match :(.

A while ago I bought an aftermarket set of the small squared ones from http://www.4wheelauto.com/ in Canada and they seem adequate (but not as nice as OEM).

Hope this helps,

-Alberto
