Took my side mirror apart today trying to resolve an issue. Anyone know what kind of adhesive I should use to put my mirror back on?

3m 5200? Or 4200 which has a less strong bond.

How hard or soft is the factory adhesive? My first inclination would be J.B.Weld

Looks like he was able to separate it without damage to the plastic, so epoxies (including jb weld) seem like they'd preclude future repairs.

There are 4 clips that mechanically hold the mirror. The adhesive is pretty soft and seems like it is just intended to stop the mirror from vibrating. An epoxy won’t work as its plastic to plastic and the parts would never come apart again. I think some kind of silicon adhesive is what is needed.

I don’t have access right now but I’d use whatever the factory service manual calls for.

I agree with a silicone adhesive, I've done that on a non 200. It will allow you to remove the mirror if you need to in the future.

Look in FSM and there is no mention of adhesive. Makes me wonder if PO had the mirror serviced and they "glued" it. I'm just going to use somekind of silicon caulk/adhesive and call it good. I can't believe I didn't think to look at the FSM before I took the damn thing apart. Its amazing I didn't break any plastic clips with the disassembly method I used.

Sorry I didn’t look closely enough the first time:doh:
