Well once the cruiser bug bites.....it's always there. I regretted and missed my 76 so after a baby, a new job, a move, and a series of cruiser karma events I went all in.

I bought ol blue from cruiserfien (Louisiana landkrewsers guy). He had it on ebay for a few hours and with all the videos, pics, and a 35 minute phone call it was pulled from ebay. Karma point one.....that was only possible due to it having no bids(probably 4 serious buyers called later upset)

Karma point 2: timing was perfect. I talked to Lance, committed to buying it and was all ready planning to be at my brothers in NOLA that same weekend. The truck was in Mandeville on the north shore.

Found a uhaul place close by lance, staged a hauler Friday and picked it and 40 up Sunday.

My daughter cried when the 76 left with Mardis (those of you that have sold rigs and/or have a daughter know how I felt).

This picture was the night we got the 71 home. Pictures ARE worth a thousand words

From here we will replace a starter with a bad solenoid or brushes and save for a MT cage and later a soft top.

Happy happy happy

Both bolts came right out. Thinking solenoid was bad, couldn't get a reading, but brushes/gear teeth are worn also. Think it might be original. Weighed 25lbs with mud and oil all caked on. Definitely don't remember the 2f starter being so big.

New one arrives tomorrow. Battery tested good so hoping this solves it. It's all corroded and is the only part older than a year on the starting system. If it's wiring elsewhere it will be a pain.

thanks yall. Just spending 20 minutes testing the battery and removing the old starter was fun.

I have the new one in the garage but will have to wait til this weekend to install. (we have 14 coming for dinner!)

The new one should have a little more power and only require me to change out one male for female receiver. Once that's done it will have a new alternator, starter and battery within the last month or so.

I also plan to baseline fluids. Not much else to do, it has reworked exhaust, entire brake system, all electrical works (when it has power to it) and good shoes.

I think we will just be driving it and saving for a cage for now! (famous last words.....right!?)

Merry Christmas CLC

Front disc brakes is a good do it yourself project. Be looking for a late axle or mini truck axle.

Also, when in there got main seal, drop a 4 speed in.

I got all the parts for this if/when you're interested...complete '77 outers from the rotors to the lock outs and a 4 speed tranny (currently still mated to the transfer case).

By the way, I love the color of this truck...is this Horizontal Blue?

Be careful Shush, before you know it the whole thing will be disassembled in your garage! Dont ask me how I know...

I started on my 76 with wanting to do "some rust" removal.......a week later I had it down to the tub!

Keep me in mind before you sell any of it.

Pre, I think, 74 did not have color codes on the passenger firewall. I believe it's horizon blue but 71s also came in Capri blue. More to follow as it's been driving me nuts!

Hmmm..... Repainted and then Faded though....the debate rages with my wife!

I have studied this at length and I am positive that it is Play-doh blue...

By debate do you mean your incessant babble while she says yes dear every 10 min or so?
