when I have a Corvette, it's with much annoyance I note there are a lot of non-Corvette parts there... when I don't, I recognize it as the first swap of the season and where some pretty good deals can be had. I need parts for my pickup, and there should be quite a few there... it's sponsored by the Corvette club, but there's a good share of domestic parts there

onward
gas pedal

chop, reweld

now on the opposite side

and other stuff, blacking out the badging and the marker frames

the markers aren't quite done yet, I need dual filament bulbs because I eliminated the side signal off the grill

time to start fitting the center console...

I used to raise Malamutes so I could go into the subject of dogs and skiing. :)

As for large rats all I need do is look in my back yard. SuperBuickGuy probably has the big horn sheep in his yard. Gotcha covered.

Great thread!!

I especially like the forays into other areas, like dogs, skiing and meteorology!!

But, why no big horn sheep and large rats? ;)

big horn sheep are on the other side of the peninsula... funny, though, when the guy was killed by an irritated ram a few years back - I was invited on the SAR mission to find him, then once it was done, with the rangers in hunting the shaggy goat.

New water pump, painted.

installed,

and picture for posterity of the belt routing

and found the source of my scraping sound

bent up and away from the balancer

yeah, stupid stuff

got the right(ish) hose for the hydroboost

and stole the heat cover off the wrong one...

and my tube bender needs a new bolt - weird, this $5.00 bender broke bending 3/8" steel line.... pos right?

first fit, maybe now some might see the reason I wrapped the headers.... smart, no?

with a little extra bending, it fit

and covered...

also the steering screws were drilled and installed with loctite and jam nuts

and ran fluid through the system

in other news, two extra holes after painting... dammit

also installed my new chrome valve covers

which replaced the very bent ones... and they're chrome, and cheap, and heavier gauge then GM covers... mock if you must, but be certain if you mock you best be someone who has finished more projects then I have...

The sledanette? the engine is home, I just need to get this hunk out of the 'build' position in the shop. It baffles me, but the closer a vehicle is to finished, the more space of the shop it takes...
for those who don't know.... a brief commercial break

believe it or not, at this point there were several hundred hours in it
and it will look like this

only white and with Buick power.... which is what I had been waiting 3 years for completion... the motor is a twin turbo, aluminum head, sleeved to 430 ci 455 Buick... expected hp is 700 and the ability to tune to 900 hp for those angry days when 700 just isn't enough.
what's funny is this car is one of the ones that got me in trouble on Pirate - people think I'm a car guy, I'm really not but these tend to make me a lot of money... heck, the '40 build is financed, in part, by a couple prior builds.... anyway, back to 4x4s.

Very nice mate would love to see the finished build thanks for sharing. :)

Are you going to have the interior of that tank coated after you weld in that new pickup? Looks like it's got some rust.

I used the KBS Tank Sealer on my 40's gas tank about 7 years ago. I haven't driven the damn thing to know how its lasted. Three-step application was simple enough though and seemed pretty legit.

From what I understand, all of them work well when applied properly... I suppose I should show my entire hand - I don't like the 12 gallon capacity, and I build stainless tanks fairly often.... so what I'm considering is simply cleaning this up enough to work for a year or two and replace the tank with something in the 20 gallon range.... problem is I don't want it in the passenger compartment although that really is the place with the most space available....
