yep! ...that's the theory, but not necessary the practice!
1/2 or 3/4(D44 or 10bolt) ton are indeed smaller than 1 ton D60.
I believe they mentioned that it has a 10bolt in the front.
Or here's an idea....why not put a GM hydroboost that was designed to work with the one ton axle that is eventually going under it? Let's not make this too complicated.

get rid of all the toy brake junk and get the brakes system from the Chevy crew cab(parts truck)
this should eliminate the pumping on brake pedal to stop the truck
