Just picked up a case of beer, hopefully that will keep me occupied until I pass out and wake up to a new and improved mud board.....last night was a real wake up call as to how boring the internet without mud can be.....thanks for the work

Glad to hear you have a plan. Sorry to hear you had to do it after a crash. Nothing worse than that. Well only if you were planning on taking a vacation.

If it makes you feel any better my exchange server took a dump this morning and a worker decided to somehow go to a website that had a virus that hosed his config file. Nothing like logging in and getting immediately logged out and nothing in the recover console worked. Bart PE worked great just like it always has.

Thanks woody for list and sounds like fun tonight , Its funny how the list is running at crazy speeds today after you told them "f" off I'm taking my toys elsewhere :flipoff2:.
I haven't seen it working this well in months , what asses

 Many cases of the suds for the datacenter switch.

Hope it all goes well, I know it's a pain!

unless they are reading the forum, they don't know yet....they will tomorrow when I call to cancel my contract and let them know I will be PERSONALLY picking up my $20,000 in useless hardware on Feb 15th...

I leave Sat morning early....driving almost 2000 miles to Vegas for the Superbowl game (with Mace and his lovely bride/family) then to Johnson Valley for a week on the lakebed with Del and Stacie Albright, covering the KOH race. NOT a vacation...right?

Sleep is overrated....

 appreciated.....

actually, BQBackup has served me well....I've got complete full backups of everything, rsync'd nightly (hourly right now)

At least I know nothing will be lost...time is the only concern...

timing is not in my hands....nor do I want it to be...when it does, grab a beer and find a pillow....and expect it better/faster/stronger when you awake :)

dual Nehalem processors w/ 12G memory, four hard drives (250, 73x2, 500)...

nuthin fancy...just proven and effective :)

Thanks for all the hard work Woody. greatly deserved.

my 'work' is research and a checkbook...thanks to those who support the site with their Silver Stars and their Vendor banners!

9pm central....it starts...likely no "immediate" downtime, but the process begins....

you have been warned... ;)

Looks like I'll get more work done in the garage again tonight :) Tastes like lemonade.

Hey you've got what a lot of Admins are too confident and inept to figure out... good reliable backups. Everyone wants 99.999% uptime but when the rubber meets the road that's almost impossible. Having a good failsafe is underrated these days but evidently you've figured that out.

Clearly you've got the hardware... I think a change (of datacenter) will do you good. 6 hour response time on a complete failure is so pathetic it is unmentionable. I would have figured a decent host would pick it up with traffic heuristics and call you within about 30 minutes.

per the work right now, it's been discovered that the data transfer is running about 300Kb/sec....

aka: pathetic....somewhere, there is a bottleneck in place...no wonder the speeds suck sometimes....

likely pulling much of the data from the backup, suspect it's a faster connection....at the 300kb rate, moving the forum images alone will take almost a full day
