It is with great sadness I'm giving up my baby.:frown:

I've been accepted to law school and rather than let it sit, I'm selling the cruiser.

I'm bummed that I didn't get a chance to wheel with this group although I've followed the forum from the beginning.

I live in Orange and work in south Irvine. If anyone local wants to come take a look let me know. I’ll give you the Socal80s discount ;)

Congratulations on getting into law school....GREAT timing, by the way! :)

Awesome looking truck, I'm sure it will go in no time.

Sweet and a great price for the truck w/mods and tent for a mudder.

Best of luck with law school. FWIW - you're making a good decision - short term loss for a long term goal. Graduate, get a good job working 90 hours a week and then buy another cruiser and mod the hell out of it to your hearts content as a reward for earning your JD and passing the bar!

Congratulations! Well have two lawyers in the SC80s group that Ill know of - hey Stan how you doing! I dont know if thats good or bad. :D

That is one good looking truck though.
If I had to do it over again, I wouldve bought a well maintained modded truck than starting from scratch. Save money and time - and get going on the wheeling trips part.

I have a funny feeling that truck is going to end up residing in San Diego owned by a native! :hhmm:

Thanks everyone. It’s killing me to sell it, but it has to go. Like Brent said, the plan is to graduate and start a new build after the bar.
Going back to school at 39 is going to be interesting. I waited way too long to do this.:p

Never too old!

I started Law School at 35 and had a practice up an running by age 39. Good luck! If I could get a good price for my FJC I'd sell it and buy yours.

Nice, I didn't notice the BUG avitar before. I assume that is your primary transportation now. If I had a second car a 69 BUG would be pretty high on the list. Before I got a new job with pretty much no commute I was looking at purchasing one for a commuter.

I remember you from the beginning, haven't heard from you in awhile indeed. Congrats on getting into law school, we will look forward to hearing from you again when you are done and building an even better 80.

I love that color, only one I wanted more than white but couldn't find one.

Thanks for all of the kind words. I'm excited to get started. I've been out of school for a while, but the timing is right.

Nice rig, surprised i never have seen you around. Im over by Currie.

I've used the truck to commute to south county for the last three years so we're never in the same area at the same time. In fact, I never seem to see any other built 80s when I'm in mine. Believe me, I'm always looking:D

That's great to hear. I have a buddy in Laguna Beach that has had a practice for years that I plan on working with after school. He's the one that actually pushed me to do it.

It's funny, I thought about going the other way and replacing the 80 with an FJC.
;p (puts fire suit on). I ended up with a small commuter car.

The bug in the avatar is my first show car from high school back in 87. I've restored VWs since then. There is a 63 convertible in my garage waiting it's turn.

It has been a while. The timing of the runs never worked out between trying to keep a small mortgage bank afloat and camping once a month with the scout troop.

I plan on keeping up with the board and if I can convince the princess to let me make some "mild" improvements to her 100 ;), I may show up once in a while to events. That is, if I can sneek a 100 into the group.

I'm off to bed. I feel like I've had a very schizophrenic conversation:D

You are welcome to join us in a 100, heck even a Heep. We would pick on you more in a Heep but you could still come. :flipoff2:

Well, that went fast. I got a call yesterday and it was gone by evening.

sigh! :frown:

It's going to be wierd not driving a cruiser everyday. I've haven't driven anything else for years. At least we still have the 100. Now if I can convince the princess that she needs some "mild" adjustments to the tires and suspension

So...anyone from MUD or SC80s?

I gladly sold my FJC for my 80s cruiser. Im not missing the FJC. Its more versatile but I feel my 80s series is a legend, an Icon... I heard they were going to stop making the FJ pretty soon, anyone else hear this? For having dogs and surfboards and wheeling the 80 is better for me. I do however miss my 06 tacoma sometimes, great truck. I will admit though that the FJC was a better wheeler than the taco... Congrats on the sale...

Glad to read you kept the 80! One of the nicest trucks here.
Id prefer the DC Tacoma over the FJC in terms of usability (the bed in the back and still have 2 people seating comfortably behind you with a real window). The bed would be nice to sleep on with a topper - since I hate sleeping in tents.

But like you said the FJC is a better offroader out of the box.

It did go to a mud guy. A really great guy named Scott. He and his brother both ditched thier Heeps and were looking to get into Toyota.

His brother bought a Tacoma but he wanted a cruiser. Not a bad rig to get him hooked on cruisers :D
