The time has come for me to sell the 60 and get a truck to tow the 40 with. I would keep it but I have run out of space and the wife would like to put her car in the garage one day :-)

So I thought I would offer it up here first before putting it on craigslist.

what I have is a 84' fj60 with approx. 178,000. Runs great! I have driven it up to S.E. Iowa several times (560 miles round trip) not afraid to take it anywhere.

the good:
replaced springs and shocks approx. 4000 miles or 1.5 years ago.
S.O.R. vinyl flooring
aussie locker in rear
B.F.G 33" mud tires 4000 miles on them
upgraded headlight harness
and lots of other small things

the Bad:
typical toyota rust
front axle seals are leaking (have rebuild kit)
brake master cyclinder has started to leak

would like to get $2500 out it. picture is not current (doesn't show the rust) but it is the only one I had on the computer. If anyone wants current pic. pm me and I will brave the cold and go out and take some tomorrow.

Hate to see this thing go, it's very nice, hopefully it will stay local. So how's the 40 coming along? We need to get together again now that we're up here, sample some seasonal brewhahas. Bump

The 40 is coming along nicely! about to start rewiring it!

I am up for some holiday cheer;-) Just name the place!

I could even bring over some holiday cheer right after breakfast. Get a little spirit in us, the 40 would be rewired in no time. Although, you probably don't want it wired with christmas lights I guess :flipoff2:

Holler if you need a tow rig. My powerstroke will probably go on craigslist next week.

when you say rewire, what are you doing?

I bought a painless style harness on ebay and going to make a new harness in the wintertime.

basically the same thing you are doing. I have a painless harness (bought off Mud Classifeds) and will be building a new harness with it over the winter as well.

not looking to get anything till after the first of the year unless it is a really good deal ;-)

I actually think the 40 I have in the garage might of belonged to you at one time or another.

it's a 96 crew cab 7.3L powerstroke 2wd, new clutch(single mass flywheel), new shocks(gotta put last one on hopefully tonight), 170K miles? gold exterior, xlt package. $6500 obo. Got the cool roof lights :)

I have a brand new superduty intercooler, EGT gauge, boost gauge and a bunch of pipes never installed that go with it. allows you to put the intercooler on it. this was before the intercooled smaller engine powerstrokes. Lots of club members know my truck or have traveled to events with me. gets 18+ unloaded which is a bonus for a tow rig.
Toolbox in back and it's a shortbed.
Shocks were won at an event just didn't get around to putting them on. But with new doors installed in the garage it's warmer and i finally got round to it last night.
Has a dvd player under middle front seat and tv hanging from roof for back seat.
Truck came from texas originally, to no rust or 4wd. It could use tires, sounds like your wanting to do exactly what i want to do. not cover property tax :)
if it's something your interested in let me know. I"m around but with 2 jobs i'm busy.

The truck you got? Light green? hit by a tornado in Ks? or what is the story, I flipped a red one once that was pretty rusty and didn't run when I got it. I got it running in about a week, pulled the PTO off (which is what I wanted off it anyway) and sold it. Can't remember any other 40's of that vintage.. I have helped a ton of owners out with them tho.

Powerstroke

If that was 4X4 I'd be interested since I am getting rid of my 2003 Superduty with the 6.0.

I like the 94-97 powerstrokes.

Sorry to hear you are going to sell that 60. I'll spread the word up north. Work is crazy, but we need to get together sometime.

Like I needed one more 4x4 :) At the time I got 2wd cause normally what was behind it could tow me out if needed. ANd I daily drive a beater honda so didn't need it for commuiting. It sat during the winter more often than not. I think i needed a slight tug once at flat nasty when I didn't know where I was going and stopped on a hill with a drop off on the other side. and once when it snowed at deer camp, the truck was unloaded and parked on ice. it doesn't do bad with the LSD in back. and many i've talked to want their older 7.3 back. I talked to a guy with a brand new one it has some sort of heater/cleaner in the exhaust that was cooking quite often he had to bypass.

and does it have VIN plates? I can't recall if it did or not.
I'll have to have an adult soda and get the story on that truck. and tell you mine.

would like to here your story!!

yes the guy did disappear, kinda left me in a bind (no vin plates) will fill you in more later.

think we might have to get a few of the guys together and have an informal TAC meeting over a few adult beverages.

Hey, my 84 isn't completely unlike yours, but yours seems perhaps a step in the right direction and I need an excuse to come home to KS from NYC.

I'll PM you and you can send me some more pics of the rust situation.

Thanks!
