I am in the process of getting together the parts to do it as well. It seems like it is difficult to find the steering box. I have tried Napa, Pep Boys, and now Summit. It was supposed to have shipped by the 19th but it seems that they are now on back order:frown:. If you have any luck please share where you got them.

Orangefj45 has the brackets for the pump if you are running the 2f.
Gonzo is a great help too!

Good luck! Be sure to share with lottsss of pictures!!!

Pretty sure AutoZone has it. It's 189 with a core of $ 125, but dude at the counter said just put 55 box in cuz they don't check.

I, at least, gave them a Saginaw box...off the Grand Cherokee I got my Pitman off of...

okay welcome to da stye...how much caruiser k'nowledge yous got? Just wondering. what year is the rig? a 74? what motor does it have? if it has an early 2F or the OG F motor, you will also need to address the pump mounting issues. it is do-able. there is a bracket that mounts on the drivers side motor mount bracket to use a saginaw style pump. for that, you'd want the "Bill Dorey" bracket that Orange45 makes and sells(or is it Orangefj45???)- Georg. he's cruiser famous for his many talents and above and beyond helpfulness. anyway, the scout box seems to be the end all solution for the 55 series and great big tires and hard wheeling. if you are going to just be well manored on and off road with medium tires, a 60 series box is about the junior version of the scout box, and maybe you can find one easier. there will be some fabrication for gear box mounting- it needs or should have some sleeves welded thru the frame for the mounting bolts, and you will have to change front shock mounts/towers. it's all do-able. I still may just do the 60 series box myself. Now if you're inclined, a later 2F motor with a split transfer case makes a great swap- maybe one from an 86 or 87 fj60- these come with factory power steering pump provisions and all the nice goodies those fj60 guys got to enjoy(a/c) anyway, just thought you might want to know, if you didn't already;).....btw, the manuel armstrong steering is ok for mild off road with about 33" tires...that is if you need to work on those guns

Here's how I did my bracket , made a plate out of 1/4 a ran the belt to bottom pulley

The Scout box is the only Saginaw box with a forward facing pitman arm. That's why they work so well with a Pig. I've never regretted this mod.

Have access to a Scout w/power steering and an SBC conversion. Owner is about to crush it. PM me if you're interested. Have no idea what he'd want for the box, pump, etc.

Luckysob are you going to use the hoop or the ford (f250 ?) shock towers? It seems like the fords would be easier especially if you don't have a pipe bender, but the hoops are really cool looking. Is there a benefit by using one verses another?

The drag link comes as part of the Hi-steer kit...mine's from Luke at 4x4 Labs.

Both Lil'John and I had our Scout steering & SOA done by the same fab Guru, which would explain the similarities. Also why it would be a good setup to copy.

Hey Pig head I am using 4x4labs too for a bunch of stuff. Thanks for the heads up! Question for all youz that have the scout thing going on- did you have to move the engine mount to fit the box in there? I haven't yet begun to get to fitting, still waiting on 4x4labs, but it looks like the bolts to mount the box are really close to the engine mount. Any thoughts?
