Hi all,

I've recently come across an old Thule Force XXL roofbox I'm hoping to repair, but coming up short on ideas for how to get things back together. The short of it is the inner lock housing on one side is totally missing. After reaching out to Thule support, I was told the only available replacement part would be the lock cylinder itself, not the inner housing. Taking a shot in the dark that maybe someone here dealt with a similar issue or has an idea of a workaround. At the moment, the best option I can think of would be to drill a few holes along the lip on the side with the missing housing and use some zip-ties to create a makeshift hinge on that side, and only use the driver's side to open and lock the box. However, I'd like to avoid the destructive route unless absolutely necessary while also salvaging what's otherwise a perfectly serviceable piece of gear.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter!

Years ago I had my daughter climb inside her Thule box and we repaired the latching mechanism. Her plastic latches inside the box were broken so I came up with substitutions with 1/8" alum stuff. It was a kloogy repair but it worked for couple of years.

I would try craigslist for a free one, I see them come up for free here, usually when someone runs them through a car wash. Either that or Ebay

Possible to see the Inside Setup?
I may have a (Quality) Locking Latch I could deliver for cost of Shipping.
It has a Hook that Turns on Inside.
