Kowboy,
My condolences and prayers to you.

I first saw this at Arlington, it seems appropriate...

If I should die and leave you here awhile,
Be not like others, sore and undone,
Who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep.
For my sake - turn again to life and smile
Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do
Something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete those dear unfinished tasks of mine
And I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Sorry for the delay... I was out in the desert for Uncle Sam.

I know all of us have to lose loved ones, but this sure is hard. Sandy really fit in and I'm very proud to have known her. I see her in you. Tho' she was a lot prettier than you. ;-)
Hang in there.

It is done ... she's now forever in Elwood.

It was a simple ceremony in a simple country cemetary. The highlight was the Old Man singin' 'er a coupla songs. The third of the Ex's flew in with my girls from Florida ... Casey flew in from the corn fields of Iowa ... Fireman and family drove in from the plains and all the local White Trash rolled in from the surroundin' counties. A LARGE showin' ... made me damn proud.

Amazin' what you knuckleheads will do when ya hear there's free food somewhere. :grinpimp:

Couldn't of made it thru this gig very well without y'all.

Thank you ... and now we move on.

Kowboy,

Sorry for the delay. Been in CO. and just got around to checking all of my normal sites. Sorry to hear the news! She was a character and I am glad I got to know her at the reunion. Lori, Neely and I will keep you in our prayers. See ya soon.

Later,

Hi,
Sorry I missed this earlier.

Kowboy,
It was a pleasure meeting your mother and I am sure she will be missed. While it is hard to lose a loved one take some solace in that you did everything you could for her and when she needed you, you were there.

From Casey Campbel on BODREPS1

Just finished reading Todd's article about getting the chance to chat with folks at the Cruiser Crawl while waiting for the jambalaya to finish. And Nick's article about teaching his adopted niece how to drive a stick and other life lesson's.

So allow me to share another story with ya'll while sitting at Nick's PC in Dallas...

Saturday January 6th, 2007, in a small cemetery in north Texas, one of three remaining places carrying the name of Elwood, Sandy Holt was laid to rest. Sandy was the mother of Kowboy. It was a beautiful sunny day, with a pair of hawks flying and vocalizing above us. Many folks, most donning White Trash T's or hoodies, were there to witness the singing of The Lord's Prayer and Amazing Grace by Butch Baker. We then heard some poetic words by Kowboy himself, all as a light breeze was blowing.

After the service as the LC's lined up and we waited for the red Dodge pickup to be strapped, the light breeze was still blowing. We all traveled the short distance to Elwood and the 3x Ranch for some ribs, potato salad, and Shiner. We all ate, talked about the upcoming Jamboree, and looked at the White Trash headquarters complete with a black velvet painting of Elvis. After a while, folks started to drift away. Nick, Jerri, and I said goodbye to Kowboy and many others. But as we walked back to the 60, we felt that light bleeze again.

Sandy will be missed, but in the hearts of those lucky enough to know her, she will be around forever.

Well said. x2
