Oh and I'm up for scouting out stuck sorority girls

well we have a LR disco coming tomorrow now too, maybe some heeps from Clemson's offroad club.........

looks more and more like the snow will hang on through the day!!!!!!!!!!

See you guys in the morning

So we're firm then

It's 10:30 p.m. and nothing is falling in Pumpkintown.
Capt'n Jim and his crew enjoyed a fine sushi
feast with micro brew japanese beers with
us this evening. LOL...the Coach made it up
his driveway without spinning a wheel. It did scrape
the hitch on the ledge leaving. They
moved the "other brand" 4x4 to the flat land.
They will probably see us at 11:00a.m. ish at
Master's Store. I'm torn. Wife's staying home sooo...
40 or 60? I leaning on the 40 now. Jim's mates
"voluntered" to ride in the back of a 40 even.
That 60's heater will be sorely missed.
11:00. Master's Store.
Depending on the weather. :) whatever...whenever
check out these old snowflakes

damn...wish i could make it up there..my gf is yelling at me not to go up to clemson...because she thinks the weather will be too bad...I wanna take this cruiser out and see how it does...oh well maybe charleston will get some snow

Can someone email me with the details as to how many people are going and how long and hard is this trail. I only have old 31 BFG MT on my fj62. Wanna go, but it is a good over an hour trip. I think I am gunna see how bad the roads are then decide. Keep me posted please. deanmatt@hotmail.com

Hey man, i have been only twice and both times it was pretty dry. i only had 31" street tires and I made it to the top of the hill climb on the first day when it was dry. The second time if was a little wet and i didn't even try but I made it out to the hill no prob....BUT snow is a completely new ball game.....I don't even know how my new 33" BFG's will do....we got winches and stuff, you'll be fine.

Well last i heard, it going to start snowing around 6am and then start changing over in the afternoon to rain/ice....JP give me a call, should be up by 9am. fingers crossed.... :bounce:

well fellas it is 2am just walked in with some fresh snow falling on my face and the radar shows lots to come................

Yep 11ish sounds good, gotta get up early and fix a few things............... but I love snow and I am going to be there.............

I will be making the calls early in the morn............

What is the weather like up in pumpkin town this morning.............. just sleet here, the forecast says 3 to 6 inches of snow slash sleet:) I am hoping you guys are getting snow up that way..........it is snowing in greenville

Well, I woke up this morning and it was almost all ice down here. I didnt wanna have to drive over an hour in ice. Let me know how it went and post pics! I hop eto possibly make it to the meeting next weekend. We will see.

Snow tales from the trail

The day started well enough. At 8:00 a.m. I fired up the 40
and headed for a gas up and grocery run for the wife.
No one on the roads. First tracks through 3-4 inches of snow.
Life can be good. Fuel pump quits. Arghhhhh......bad fuse. Whew.
Bad news : I called the wife in a panic and she came to "rescue"
me in the 80. Oh the shame!
I had 'er fired as the 80 came in view. Sent my wife home.
I continued to the store. Gas and grub and I'm headed
home. I stop in my driveway and steam erupts from under
the bonnet. Yikes! My heat exchanger blew out internally.
Go figure. I always carry spare hose so I by-passed the
exchanger. I'm running late for the meeting even though it's
about 10 minutes from home.
Master's Store finds Jim and crew waiting. No Cruisers?
JP and Alex call. Company is on the way.
ClemsonCruiser (JP) is insane. Bikini top in a snow/sleet/freezing
weather. LOL...he had to stick his head outside the windshield
to see. Insane Cruiserhead.
The trail looked awesome.
I left early due to home concerns. I spoke to them minutes ago.
One 40 needing extraction and one blown tire so far.
Pictures when the guys stop here this evening. I can't
wait.
Thank you Mother Nature. I had a blast and it
appears I missed all the good stuff.
UPDATE: Alex called and all made it out and are headed
to Pumpkintown as I type.

Gents,

Sorry I couldn't make it, I barely got the altima outta the driveway this morning. However, I do plan on getting up to Easley next week to meet everyone come hell or high water. Hope the snow was fun.

Matt

How do I formally join the upstate cruisers?

No worries it was a nasty day out............. unless you are a crazy cruiserhead like us :)

It was a blast out there to day the weather was cold and miserable and I was loving every minute of it........... as david said I am crazy................. It wouldn't have been so bad if my window wipers had not burnout and my deforst actually worked, my checks are still a little rosey from hanging my head out at 40 mph............. and sleet really stings when you are going that fast.

It was my first time wheeling my forty in the snow and getting to actually wheel with the club....... it was a grand adventure and got into all kinds of trouble........

The highlight definetly had to be when attempting to change my tire in the snow/mud goop we were in, the high-lift jack slipped out from under the cruiser and sent the spare tire charging down the mountain on a collision course with Alex's stuck 40 several hundred yards away..

All we could do was sit back and watch in disbelief as my spare tire crashed into Alex's cruiser, lucky his front bumper took the brunt of the blow and his cruiser came away unharmed........ which is impressive if you consider that spate tire weighed around a hundred pounds and was probally doing atleast 25 mph when it smacked Alex's cruiser................ Alex was a great sport about it he was even kind enough to chase down the tire while I finished changing out mine........

Everyone made it out without any major problems and we have lots of good pictures to come and hopefully show at next weeks meet..........

JP

Pictures

Sorry guys. We had an interface problem with the cameras and
my home computer. They are nice pics, but, ya'll will have to come
to next Saturday's meet at Sonic to see them.
We will just save them till then. :)
Sonic in Easley about 6ish the first Saturday in Feb.

Ahhh....numb toes, wet, sticky clay in my gloves. The sound of ripping metal and grinding plastic...the boing, boing boing of a 34 inch swamper bouncing down the hill...

More fun than I should be allowed to have.

Thanks to the Clemson Mafia for helping out and a special thanks to Lynn and David Harrison for their warm hospitality.

well done sir, well done.......... it's hard to believe that little innocent looking hill gave us so much trouble, I guess that is what happens when you mix ice and good ole red clay
