No rear main, just because mainly because I didn't have a part number for it quite yet and I figured the PO did it when he got the motor. Every looks good out back now that that port is fixed. I did find a small leak on the pan and on the front seal, but nothing too terrible. I also had to tighten up the bypass filter lines a bit.

Sorry I haven't taken more pictures. I've been working pretty fast and usually have some pretty nasty hands. I don't see how people do these build threads and take a picture of every step.

I'm glad we caught the clutch issue before I finished everything up and realized that it wasn't right.

I ordered the TG Bomb Proof motor and t-case mounts from LRO last night. Hopefully, they will be here by the weekend so that I can head back over to the shop. If not, I may just go over and install gauges, glow plug circuit, etc.

Alright guys. We'll consider this wrapped up now!

Got the motor in for the 2nd time tonight and she's looking good! Clutch is great, gears feel good, running cool, etc.

It's not completely done though. Temp is the only gauge I have hooked up right now. Still need to hook up oil pressure, boost, tach, and EGT. Right now, she only has a down pipe since the exhaust is on the opposite side and the 2wd exhaust crossover didn't clear my t-case. She sounds like a big rig under a load. An immediate heavy deep sound quickly drown out by a turbo that love the freedom of a short pipe. No intercooler right now, still need to find out where I want to put it that will allow me to have cooling while crawling. If I mount it up top, heat will just rise up through it at low speeds. Just running a pipe from turbo to intake right now.

Still have a couple of things that I need to find room for mounting. The bypass oil filter in particular. I'm really debating on whether or not just to put in a stock filter....

The ride home was smooth, but loud. The turbo just screams down the highway. I found that I was pulling 60-65 up hills with no problems, but found myself backing off with no pyro.

I don't know what my mileage looks like, but I usually use a between 1/4 and 1/3 tank on the 75 mil trip from my dads running through coutry, hilly roads and only a little bit of highway. Tonight, I had a terrible head wind and 10/1 fuel with 10 being diesel and 1 being gasoline (due to remnants in the tank). When I left his house, the fuel gauge needle was sitting on top of the 1/2 tank mark, sort of inbetween the with mark and the black background. 75 miles later, she's sitting out back with just a hair of black showing between the needle and the bottom of the 1/2 tank mark. OUTSTANDING!

thanks for the up date:)

had a lot of rumbling last night thought twas thunder till I read this now know it was U:D

That was quick! That sound is hard to beat!

I didn't work on it Sat. I was working on the H3 sliders instead. Those have been off to the side and needed some progress. I'll get a picture of the current stage on those soon.

So, in total, it took 3 days of hard work, with about 5-6 hours with help. Could probably get it done it a weekend with a buddy or two!

I drove it to work this morning. Just a few seconds with the glow plugs and she's ready to wake up. I'm still looking for leaks, etc...but all looks good so far. She sure does growl and scream. For those of you not familiar with the 3L, it's a 2.8 liter. I believe that this particular unit was originally in a Toyota Hiace and was naturally aspirated. This is using the CT-20 turbo setup off of a 2LT.

Way to knock it out  sounds sweet. Hope the testing goes as planned probably don't need to worry about the intercooler until the temps warm up which is every other week here :meh:

Yeah, I'm really torn about what to do with the intercooler...

If I mount it up top like it used to be, then I have to cut a hole, place a scoop, and have to worry about heat rising.

If I mount it up front, I am limited for space and would have to run long lines and hope the turbo lag wasn't too bad with all of the volume.

Or...and what I am leaning towards, Is punching a could of holes through the firewall and mounting it in the cowl area. Should have air pressure when on the highway and I could probably mount a fan to the underside when crawling (if I even need to worry about it at all). As long as it isn't soaking up heat it should be better than stock.

Well the big question is, do you fell the power difference?
Hope to see this in person one day.

Good question. I don't feel anything major, but i'm running it easy until I have a full set of gauges in front of me. It pulls really good in the low rpms, but I shift it up pretty quick because its so loud and it makes me feel like i'm spinning it to fast. I guess that would pretty hard to do with the 4800 rpm redline. It sure sounds more powerful...

I can say this though, I can dump the clutch at idle in 1 high and idle over a curb. With the 22r, if I wasn't giving it gas, I had to ease the clutch out really slow and running over a piece of gravel may kill it. When I make a slow turn, I would sometimes get a clunka clunka and have to ride the clutch on the gasser. I think it was shifting torque back and forth between the axle and the motor. Now you can feel that it wants to do that, but can't overpower the diesel's low end torque.

Got egt and boost gauges hooked up tonight. Need to finish setting up the tach and find the oil pressure sender. Tach is a mag pickup off the flywheel that goes to a control box. I may just pull the pressure switch off of the 22re. Glow plus are now fully functional. I have exhaust pipe coming in two days along with a new slave cylinder and throttle cable.

She sure has turned some heads today. Especially when filing her up!

I've been driving this thing all week and I have noticed some improvements in performance. I think maybe I have been having some issues with air coming in with the fuel that have cleared themselves up. I have all of my gauges working, but I have lost the speedo. I kinked it when installing the motor and it seemed like it would survive, but let go on the interstate the other night.

Turns out that I'm just barely running the thing. If I give it a little more juice, it's actually a pretty quick little engine. As I've said before, the torque is great for a minitruck. I can't wait to get an intercooler on it. I am thinking about selling the air to air and setting up something that air to water, since air to air won't do much for me on the trails.

I'm still trying to get the engine bay cleaned up. I'll probably get rid of the bypass oil filter because it seems to be in the way too much and I prefer to change my oil often, due to the environments that I will be in. Even with the better filtration, I just don't trust old oil. So, I think I'll go back to the stock oil filter.

Right now, the truck has dual Optima red tops. I'm thinking about getting rid of one of those to install an airbox and build a snorkle similar to Roger Brown's. Then, I may build a remote mount for the 2nd batter before winter. Maybe I will mount it in the back somewhere.

I'll probably give my parts guy a call tonight to see if he can get me a speedo cable and a set of mirrors. Hopefully he has something pulled already and I won't have to spend too much time under or in a truck messing with a cable. I hate working in the dash.

I got in some 2.25" exhaust last night, as well as a new throttle cable (mine is in bad shape and doesn't like to return). I also got a clutch slave cylinder in, but there was a master cylinder in the box. I'm getting it replaced today, along with picking up an oil pressure switch since the one on this engine was removed to installed turbo oil lines. The PO had an aftermarket gauge.

I'm definitely going to try!

I'll sell you a free pass to GSMTR if you want to go see it there! :D

I'll have to find someone to run the camera.

I'm trying to get Nicole to go. I'll probably drive the 4Runner down (can't beat the mpg's), so I will have to avoid axle breakage and flopping this time around. I know that if I flop it, she will never go again!

I already told you I would trade my Chevy for your ford. That 6.5 is probably a direct replacement for your sbc. Just kidding, but IMO, finding a diesel for the land cruiser is probably easier than finding one for a hilux.

I stayed pretty busy this weekend. I did some work on those H3 sliders, but I am at a stand still because my buddies H3 is in the shop and I need to check some fitment stuff again before I do too much welding.

Friday, I stopped by Bill's to show off the new goods and get some mirrors. He's got a lot going on and I didn't stay too long because the wife wanted me home...

Yesterday, I change the throttle cable, worked on some more wiring, change the clutch slave, and removed the 2nd battery (for summer anyway).

Today, I went to the local u-pull and nabbed a speedo cable out of an '86 4runner. Right across the aisle was a 3rd gen 4Runner Limited. I looked underneath....e-locker. I droppped everything I was doing and hit the ground. Spins free, good oil, this will be mine. I went to work with what tools I brought with me. Finally got it down to pulling the diff and couldn't split it. Just my luck. I asked if I could go get a bottle torch to heat up the seam....NO! I left my number for the owner to see if he could get someone to pop it out for me. Hope no one else takes it. With my luck, it will fall out over night and someone will just have to pick it off the ground in the morning. It'll probably roll out into the middle of the road to make it easy for someone else to find! Anyway, I had to split away at 2:15 because they close at 2:30 today and I still needed to find a good fan setup since my fan died. I ended up pulling a dual fan and shroud out of an old Taurus. The dimensions were pretty close with just a little overhang. I had to rewire everything because they pull a lot more current. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. If the motor locks up, I could probably get the truck off the trail with wind power alone!

These came a little late, but will need to mount one on the P/S pump anway...

Also, power feels a lot better with the new throttle cable. No helper spring now so it goes down much easier. Also, not much play, so I can really open it up! Much better than the 22re now!

lets C some VID`s :)
