So yeah, just about finished the windshield frame restoration.

I had the fabricator build me two sets of custom shaped repair pieces and only needed one.

If anyone needs to do a 70 series windshield repair, I will sell you my 2nd set for what I paid for it ($250). A new frame is $800 USD so I think it's a good option for those of us with thin wallets.

You didn't template them before you screwed them to the truck did you? The rears are really nice, have to
check them out next time.

Cruiserpilot, I have the original pieces that I used as templates, so in a way I do still have templates :-)

Bits of progress on this rig...only need lockers to complete the original list of upgrades. Other things have been added on the dream list but for now I think it’s pretty good for awhile. Will have a bunch of wiring to do when I get it back, hopefully next week.

1. On-Board Air. VIAir 450C 24v 100% duty cycle rates, 1.77CFM Flor Rate @ 0 PSI. Pretty nice unit!

2. Rear Oak Cargo Divider/Shelf.

3. Front and Rear Bumpers, and Sliders.

4. Winch mounted.

Note: Front bumper is being completed as I post this with some curves still needed, LED pod pockets, liftall lift insert points, and liftall storage attachment still needed, and rear swing out is getting started. Sliders are done and just need paint. All fabrication done by a guy named Brad on the VIToyota Facebook page who’s pretty brilliant imho.

Had a guy named Brad out in Sooke fabricate my bumpers and sliders over the holidays.

Front bumper is very similar to the one I had on my 60, but with a few extras.

- LED pods inset on the angle as they are a 250 degree light radius which will give forward and side lighting.

- Jack-All lifting points cut on the lower angle plate which give easy safe lifting access and its right beside the tow hooks which help give the lift stability.

- Jack-All storage on top of front bumper.

- Front stinger and side corners allow me to see where the front and corners of the truck are, which was impossible before (70’s hood angles in and you can’t see the edge of the fenders).

- H4 24v 7” Aux lights.

Rear bumper is ridonkulous.

- Double heim joints attach each swing out to each rear door, allowing the swing out and the door to open/swing at the same time. I’ve never liked how swingouts are separate from the doors in that you have multiple things swaying in the wind when open. All’s I gotta do is open the door and the swing out just comes with it. Engineering where and how to mount the heim joints was, I’m sure, a real PITA! That’s why I gladly paid someone else to do it! There is a thread on Mud that I unashamedly stole this idea from.

- Spare tire holder pretty simple.

- Fuel can holder has a chainsaw mount and resting plate, and then an LED 250 degree flood (on its own switch as I didn’t want it to come on with reverse lights).

- Mini LED brake, reverse, and signal lights stacked in the same order as the OEM rear lights. Although the rear signal is mostly (but not entirely) blocked by the swing out spindle, I wanted to be safe and avoid a VI with an obstructed signal.

- Lift-All lift points cut into the bottom angle just like the front.

- Dual 2” with pintol hitch.

Sliders

- Double plated and welded to frame.

- Very simple and strong design.

This has allowed me to mount my 24v Aisin winch!

Still need to finish up some wiring for lights and winch though.
