My son is taking my non-rusted PNW 4Runner to college in Rochester, NY.

Should we spray the under carriage to atleast slow the rusting? What product do people recommend or not recommend.

Thanks

I'm from Buffalo and can tell you with confidence your truck will rust BAD and it doesn't take long. My father drove his vehicles until they fell apart. He FINALLY bought his first new vehicle, a 2005 Sequoia. He had it undercoated with something every fall. I thought he said "Carwell" ??
He said they put it up on a lift and a guy in a hazmat suit sprayed the heck out of it. It left drips in his driveway he said.

Anyway, it never got any frame rust for many years. His stock steel wheels he used for snow tires got rusty as did bumpers and whatever wasn't coated. He passed away and my brother took it. He didn't have the undercoat done and it wasn't long before it rusted out beyond repair. My other brother just keeps trading in his vehicles regularly. He can afford to.

IDK what a good product is today but, if you want the truck to last you better do something.

GOOD LUCK and best wishes for your son.
Scott in AZ.
