We will be arriving on Monday and visiting my sister in law in Pollock Pines and then leaving from there for the Wagon Run, would it be best to leave the tow rig there ? I dont want to take up parking space others might need but I am concerned about having enough fuel for the run , driving from Pollock Pines making the run and getting back to Pollock Pines My Cruiser has the stock tank plus a 5 gal jerry can let me know what you all think Thanks

You can park at Ice House or Robb's Resprt for ~5/day... Do that.

But wait..... if you leave your tow rig in pollock pines it will greatly save time on sunday when you travel back around 50 from Tahoma and not have to go back up Ice House for the tow rig. Or..... you can run with the backwards folks and exit back to loon on Sunday.

Yes -- Pollack Pines would be ok for that --

You should not have gas issues from Pollack out to South Lake Tahoe with 5 extra in a Jerry in an 80.

It takes me 20+ to go tahoma - Loon - Tahoma.

Just making sure that I need to carry an extra 5 gallons, wasn't planning on it but have never been on the 'con before either. Planned on filling the 80 up in Placerville as suggested and not sure if there is a top off spot before the trail or not.

Trying to pack as little as I can for the 4 of us and a jerry can is extra space if not necessary.

If I fill up at Pollok Pines. La Cabra will have a little less than half a tank by the time I hit the Tahoe side (Tahoma). Having extra gas is always great, but I don't think you'll need it. The 80 is a bit more fuel efficient than the 40. It also has a 25 gallon gas tank.

Regards

Alvaro

Alvaro is spot on. However, fuel is always a highly sought after commodity by someone.

Next batch of confirmations going out this weekend. If you just send me your reg within the last week, probably not included. These came in while we were in Utah.

Bring the extra 5 gallons... I might need it for my 40 :D

Top off your tank in Pollock Pines. You should have enough. My 95 4runner never used up a full tank.

Thanks guys, I will top off and not worry. Instead of a 5 gallon jerry can in the back I will stick a new bottle of Patron in there and share with you all

Rubithon Kids

If you are bringing your kids (Age 0 to 13) on the event can you please post up the number of them so we have an idea of how many kids to expect.
Thanks,
Dave

I hope so..... that's what I'm bringing. I may try to bring 10 gallons as I'm not sure how thirsty my 40 runs. (that's why I said he could bring an extra 5 for me:D)

It really depends on your engine and useage of the skinny pedal. I think stock 40's generally can do it on a tank+5 for insurance.

Hey Dave:

4 year old boy on 6/20
7 year old boy
37 year old boy...oh wait you 0-13 so that excludes me I guess

Be there if you can it may be the last evening fire for a few nights.......

Are fires not allowed in the springs? Is there a group fire?

I'll have a 13 yr. old boy and a 13 yr. old girl. The girl will be visiting from Slovakia. This will be a great intro to four wheeling for her...

It should be fun packing the 40 for this trip...

last year was dry, and there were no fires allowed in the nat'l forest. Rubicon Springs is private property, so it was exempt.

We won't know until the week of for sure.

fires are hit and miss. Plan for no fire! If we are allowed to have them, great. but if not, and they catch you,it can get expensive. Plus as an organized event, we want to do the right thing.

There is usually a group campfire in the springs... especially saturday night. Probably Friday too.

But again, plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Bring propane to cook. Many many times our fire has been a citronella candle. :)

Also, plan to haul out all your garbage and someone elses's.

Ice House resort open early to support us

Julie at Ice House resort has noted she will be open at 5 AM on Wednesday and Thursday to support Rubithon This means you can get an early breakfast, last stop for food, beer or ice... and they have gas for sale (but you pay for the convenience).

She still have cabins available, and you can safely park tow rigs there if returning to the Loon lake side on Sunday.

for those never been there, they also have a unique bar serving refreshments... one of my favorite hideouts.

I have been checking the web sites and I cannot find any contact information for the Ice House ? do they have a web site or could someone post a phone number. Might be interesting one one night
