Roger that. I wasn't sure of the name of it. Now I do!!

Do you have more details on this setup? I have a deluxe ARB on the way and this winch is what I'd like to install but want to make sure I know what I'm getting into with clocking/mounting the control box, etc... Thanks!

I didn’t have to clock my EVO 12s. Had to add some spacers on the inside of the bumper between the ARB and the winch. Control box just barely fits next to/ under the valence. Pics pending.

are you running the 03+ ARB or the 98-02? I have read that only the latter has feet down bolts.

No idea. I bought the bumper about 6 years ago

I just bought this winch, and have the same bumper

did you have to do anything special to get the bumper and control box to not interfere with the grill?
I tried test fitting it, but had some clearance issues with the control box contacting the bumper.

Do you have a body lift?
(aside from the need for spacers)

Mine seems to just barely clear the lower valence. Pic above for reference.

i'm installing this exact same setup now - same bumper and winch, with a few differences:
  • I used 1/2" metal stock and made some spacers that span the full vertical height of the face plate so as to give the winch a solid frame to pull against.
  • I will clock the motor so the clutch release is on top.
  • I'll either fab a mount bracket for the control box to sit on top, or (more likely) run the control box into the engine bay
I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.

I saw your photos last night, which prompted my questions :D
My control box does not clear, so I'll have to move it.. I'm running the same VR 12 winch. 🤷‍♂️

are you mounting yours on an ARB bumper? does it *just* barely not clear?
if so, I ended up removing the bolt for the front body panel that is right there, and that allowed it *just* enough room to mount there.

Well, from what I recall seeing yesterday it was a good inch or so too much, but I pretty quickly decided I didnt want it sitting back there anyway, if nothing else, just to keep it away from water and mud.

Here are the spacers i made from 1/4" stock I bought from Tractor Supply, and I clocked the winch clutch so it's on top.

I will also need to trim the bumper so rope doesnt rub. Alternatives are to get an offset fairlead, or drill new holes. Trimming seems easiest and equally as effective.
