@PabloCruise, LMK if you want any inserts made. I have the 17mm x1.5 LH tap, but can easily get RH or 21mm taps. 23mm weld in inserts are widely available for relative chump change. I just need to know the thread and actual ID of the tubing being used. The tube I used is 1.38”OD X .975-.980” ID, and the insert I made was easy to install by hand, but took channel locks to pull out.
Thank you!!!

In the back of my mind is my next highly coordinated (LOL) project that would involve swapping out my knuckles/arms/rotors to 60 series goods. I am pretty sure that will involve a change to all 60 series rod ends and therefore relay & tie rods.

My Pig is already 60 series PS, and I do not remember what the relay rod specifics are. I bought it with the PS already in place...

Clear as MUD?

Fj55 length axle housing? Pretty sure the fj60 TREs are 23mm, but the drag link- as the 60-62 series does not require a relay rod since there is no center arm - uses 21mm x 1.5 threads. I’ll double check.

Yes, correct, stock width 55 front axle housing.

This really will be a can o' worms.

In the spirit of making your thread all about me, I bought my Pig w/ a stock front axle and promptly swapped in the front axle from @FJBen Pigtastic.

That was an instant upgrade to discs and a front ARB. I have yet to use that ARB.

Then I got an ARB compressor from @Laughingjackal that I have yet to install.

In my mind, that ARB should probably go in the rear of the Pig, but Ben doesn't remember if it is the kind of ARB that has windows for the C-clips, or if it is for front only. To figure that our, I am going to have to delve into the front axle. This is fine b/c after my last outing to test drive the new 5-speed, my current knuckles look like they are leaking pretty bad. So it is time.

I have what I think are a complete set of 60 knuckles/arms/rotors that would make for a nice upgrade to the Pig, so my plan would be to put the 60 knuckles on the 55 housing.

I still have the stock '74 front housing, so part of me wonders if it would be faster to tear that down and build it with the 60 knuckles so I can just roll it under my Pig and slap it in. IDK.

At this point all I have done is virtual wrenching on this project, but a big question mark for me is the relay and tie rods once I put 60 knuckles on a 55 housing.

I appreciate your offer to help!

what's good for your rig is good for ours!!!

I need to dive back in... I have forgotten so much since I went off the rails... but I think the 74 knuckle balls may still be the smaller balls and I'm not sure they'll take the bigger birfs - but I could be wrong.

It does appear that the fj60/62 TREs are 23mm, and the drag link ends are 21mm, so if you are going to keep the rod ends all fj60 series, you'd need a drag link rod made in the correct length to accept the 21mm threaded ends.

I think the 60/62 series pitman arm end has a larger taper than the fj80 pitman arm, but that's neither here nor there for your application.
