Build ROTW icons for easy mod identification

Well I think the FAQ is a great idea, I'd still love to browse the ROTW's by their broad stroke mods. There could always be a grid space to list a few of the ROTW's unique mods as well. But I can remember back to when I began building my posermobile, and I really enjoyed looking at the eye candy of a particular 80 that had done what I wanted to do ... a role model is important. Yes, we'll all pull ideas from various rigs out here, but it's still nice to see an 80 that turns us on because it's already so close to where we feel we'd like to go with our own.

You cannot achieve such a wholistic sense by investigating the minutia of a particular mod imho. To be able to get an idea if a ROTW in our community here is a potential role model for ourselves, we would need to see some sort of summary at a glance.

Perhaps a primitive version of this would be 'alternative text' seen when we hover over the particular ROTW's link. If I can help bring even this to fruition, let me know.

I am thinking that we could do the icons for thread content (might be a little more involved) that would allow the search for a type of thread that might be a little more direct than typing in "OME suspension" in search, and also being able to sort by certian types of threads. All of these being labled by the little icons. And also have the icons by user names. I.E., yellow spring = OME J-springs, Tire with '315' or '36' inside of the rim (in the icon) = 315s or 36" tires.

Is that what you are looking for Ty.? Please explain the purpose in these and the use, etc. I would be interested in getting more involved with this site and maybe become a mod one day.

I mean no disrespect when I say you're missing the point. It's not so people can read writeups on a 'particular' mod. Rather it is so they can find a role model 80 in our community. An 80 that, for the most part, expresses their 'own' desires. This may be mostly for new comers ... but it would also serve a guy who is thinking of going from a OME 2.5 to a full on 6 inch suspension.

You say I must have had something in mind .. well I did. I went looking for 80's with 6" suspension in the ROTW's and found I had to wade thru them all .. what a royal PITA. If there was some way to instantly know which 80's had that mod, my time would have been better served. And I think if we're left to search only, we know a pile of threads could pop up that aren't directly pointed at our goal .. might just be someone mentioned 6" suspension in someones ROTW thread .. where in reality, that particular ROTW does NOT have a 6" suspension.

Ty- I understood your point from the begining and I understand how hard it would be to do. You never are bashful about starting a thread when you have a question. So, post up a question if you don't get what you want from the search or a quick review. Thats what the forum is for.

That seems feesable, but the problem would be in those cases where that user has a huge amounts of mods, or an important mod that there is no icon for, etc. Am I on the right track here guys?

Just for ROTW, eh? I think this is very do-able (unlike Junk's mom).

Gimme a list of all the icon's you think would be necessary, and I'll see what I can do about those...

Seems as if one could just add to the smily list. Or are you talking about in the thread title when you open the thread, and beside the thread name on a search list of threads?

Kinda like an Excel layout I guess for ROTW's. But if the icons were available for a sig line, then at a quick glance we'd know what the guys rig was about as well, ROTW or not. Save on some writing in the sig line ..


A couple ways to lay it out for ROTW. Either use the icons to line the top row, and place X's in the corresponding boxes where an 80 has that particular icons mod, or keep the ROTW layout as it is, and simply place the icons next to each one individually, and provide a legend for folks.
