Nice ride! What tires are those? Are they daily, or just trails? How do they wear? Do you like them? Once again, Nice mods.....VERY NICE 80!

Cool setup for the OBA I was thinking of mounting my air tank in around the same place. Any problems that you can think of of that thing getting whacked or cracked. That seems like a great place to mount it but the fact that it might get demolished on the trail is holding me back..... well that and time at the moment.

BEN, another inspirational build!!

thanks for contributing ROTW and all your past research and findings. Your 93 and your extensive write ups are responsible for the direction of my own buildup. I love my 4''/J combo, now just need to start finessing w/ some of your other small adjustments.

LT1........how bout a skid the bolts into spare tire carriers captured nuts?? could be dual purpose for protection and support for the tank perhaps.

Can you post some pics of the Wet Okole seat covers and some feedback?

Do you sweat a lot with them on your back?

Are they comfortable?

Was your rig originally leather?

thanks, they are BFG M/T's. 315's. Contrary to popular belief they are just as tall as the Trxus. So far I like them. They are smoother than my old trxus but I'd imagine not as tough (sidewalls) They will certainly outlast the trxus in terms of miles, and so far I've been pleased. I'd imagine these M/T's to be a 30k-40K tire easily with balance and such. I"ve known others that have gotten more. When we went wheeling...people were sliding a lot with MT/R's and such...I was able to climb at full pressure...could have been rig weight etc...but they gripped well enough for me.

I guess it's possible it could get wacked. It's tucked up more than it appears in the photo's. The tire actually goes further back than that tank so you'd have to hit a pretty specific rock to hit that tank. It's about 24" off the ground and hangs down past the frame 3" There is more room above to move it up if you wanted to. you could easily get it flush or higher than the frame. I will probably do that.

here's a few not so good pics of the Wet Okole's.

I haven't noticed sweating in them. My A/C works really nice so it stays chilly in there. They are definitely nicer than the leather in terms of very hot or winter days. You don't get that freezing or burning feel. The rig is leather, the fronts were just cracked. I actually prefer leather, but for a cover, they are nice. They kinda stain with dirt when the get wet, so you need to clean them. They have instructions on the site about cleaning them on the rig with a mild detergent. I haven't done it yet.

They feel pretty comfortable. I'd prefer a leather replacement kit, but so far I don't have any complaints. The strap on to the seats pretty tight so you don't have full foward seat position...you get about 90% of the way before I stop it because you can tell it's pulling on the cover. Which is fine, the seat all the way foward is crazy close.

Nice write up Ben - can't wait to see the custom paint!

Will it involve metal flake?

Custom pimp paint job. :D Hoping within the next 2 weeks. I'll just say it's toyota themed

Here's a pic with me throwing the roof rack up top for a visual last night. Yeah...I had to do it to take a picture.

Since I'm still up here ;p

I guess I"ll post up more updates. The plan is coming together for redoing the rear tire carrier. Basically centering it, putting on a better latch, hi-lift carrier, CO2 bottle mount and a few other odds/ends.

Last night we added a "power assist"/hold open mechanism for the rear tire carrier. Basically I' d found a new "strut" from a Kawasaki Mule. It held the window open on the front so I decided to fit it on the tire carrier. Now it doesn't swing all over when you open it. Was quick and easy...a little booty geometry and we knew where to mount it. Here's some crappy cell phone pics.

An update...

#1 My dad gave me the screen to his backup camera. It's larger than mine and works pretty good.

#2 I've gathered the steel for the rear tire carrier setup. It's going to be the typical setup. 2x3x3/16" for the main swing, 2x3x3/16 for the upright and then 1.5x1.5x3/16" for the side braces. It will have a hi-lift mount and possibly CO2 tank holder. It will be braced with a desatco latch and opened with a strut. Hope to be complete in the next week or so.

#3 Prep for the custom paint/graphics. I may do a buildup/progress on it...but at the moment, phase 1 is done, hood blackout. Phase 2 remove pinstripes which I'm in the middle of. Phase 3 coming soon :) more black. (poser pic included) all of the pinstriping is gone on passenger side, almost all on driver...ih8pinstripes
