Nice rig and great plan of action. Makin her good for years to come. So first thought this was part of a snork then was down to the inner fender air box,but no. Does the big T really make some sort of sonic wildlife warning system???

Well I guess I will have to go with the free mod. Black spray paint the sombrero to try and hide it!!!!!

Great rig and great deal! I bought my used 92 with about 100K on it for about $12K. Of course that was before gas prices launched.
I agree with the alternator, but you may consider the water pump. Mine went out.
I'm in the middle of front hubs rebuild and OME suspension upgrade. Dirty job! Can't wait to take it out this summer. With 210K on it, I'm sure I'll break something and be back under it next winter.

If you look closely, the answer is there.
are you sure it's not the extra storage box that goes inside the cargo area hidden behind the jack area- like C-dan has on his truck? That's the only thing I can guess!! it's driving me crazy, what is it???

How has the on and off road stability been with the 255's? Any plans to add wheel spacers?

I have barely been off-road, but the on-road stability has impressed me. The rig is more agile and responsive, in handling and braking. I am enjoying my daily driving a lot more. I have been running 285 BFG AT's in the past, on both my Cruisers exclusively. They had been the only tire I have run, until these. I love them, rig still feels solid.
I did not plan to run spacers, but I have been contemplating doing so lately. I would only use 1 inch, no bigger, if I do so. If for nothing else, looks, but in several conversations about 255/85's, crawlers have indicated that one inch spacers would improve off-road performance. I understand about widening the stance for a lower center-of-gravity, but I am just not sold yet.

I believe this member is correct, and as the part is listed a "warning reflector box" that would be my guess
My old chevy (canadian model) came with a box that would fit in that box. Inside were two reflective triangles that you assembled and sat on the road to warn approaching vehicles that you were broken down.............maybe a non U.S. requirement...........most likely discontinued for 80s cause they never brake down on the side of the road
And nice rig......I have been eyeing your 255s since you put them on, thanks for sharing your build
