I little bit better quality pic of one of my fenders. Silver is hard to capture on digital pics.

Your buddy did a clean job on the bed-bob. Nice rig!

I would be that buddy that did the first bob, this time dont wrinkle your new one all up!!!!

Thanks

Did a bit of work on the hood today.

You need to let me fiberglass mold that hood for you so you have a spare when you need a backup!!! :)

The truck looks really good steve, My 4runner is way behind your swap.

Not likely.......and thanks. :grinpimp:

How is the complexity of the swap compared to other motor swap options?

Other than the tight fit it was pretty straightforward. This engine is equal in size to a big block chevy. If it's not positioned just perfect something won't fit somewhere else.

A big block, or a small block? I cant imagine a big block would fit.

Big Block. At it's widest point a big block chevy is 24" wide at the exhaust ports. The 1uz is 28" wide as the same place. It's because of the dual overhead cams. the dept on the Big Block is 28" from flywheel to fan pulley using a factory water pump. The 1uz is about 25" front to back. I can't really accurately measure the height because the 454 chevy I have has a high rise intake and no carb on it right now. The Lexus 1uz is about 24" from bottom of oil pan to top of intake plenum.

Sounds like it's got a decent stroke then. Ever get a chance to see how torquey it is on the low-end? That was my frustration with the Chevy and Ford V6's and V8's, they were almost useless before third gear.

Dam big motor. I still need more pics of the underside please.

454s are a 4" stroke from the factory, 2F is like 4.01". They're very torquey off the line with the right cam and induction. Same with any given 396, 427, etc etc. We've got a blown 396, a nitrous 496, and a blown, nitrous, alcohol 540 in house. Believe me when I say they're FAR torquier than a comparable small block.

V6s and small block fords/chevys aren't meant for low end torque. If you have the room a big block chevy/ford/mopar, olds, buick, pontiac, or cadillac motor is a much better choice. No idea on the stroke of the UZ motors.

The 1uz is only a 4.0 liter v8 with a 3.44" bore and a 3.25" stroke but it came from the factory with 4 cams, 6 bolt mains, forged crank and rods, 10:1 compression and is all aluminum and weighs only 390 pounds dressed. It's design was based on their CART/IRL engine design and was originally going to by used in GT500 racecars. Althought the factory rated horspower is low by todays standards(260 but about 300 the way I have it set up) but in 1992 when it was new it had more horsepower than the Corvette, Camaro or Mustang. It has plenty of power to get a Toyota with 5.29 gears moving and it's extremely rev happy. :D

I guess If I was mud racing or something a big block may be better but at nearly 700 pounds its too much weight in the front end of a trail truck. Besides the 1uz was basically free after I parted out the doner car. Aren't too many complete good running condition big blocks around.
