Got a fj55 and I am looking at buying a rollcage. Starts behind the front seats and extends into the cargo bed. My interest is in retractable seatbelts. I want to use the cage to attach the belts. The only thing is is that I know nothing about them. Is there different types of metal? Different kinds of welds?

Anyone got some help for me?

Mount seats to cage, if cage goes one way, body goes another, well you know.

Yes. You might find more 411 in hard core.....
Don't just use black iron pipe, it has thick and thin spots. I have been thinking cage myself lately....I'd make mine w/ BIG feet for mounting to the BODY MOUNT point. I think we need a thread where everyone posts pics of their cages and how they tied everything in. There are a few threads here-use search-but I think we need something more specific and comprehensive. Almost anything would be an improvement on the factory roof supports, huh.

Redline will make a cage for you.

I want a cage on mine but I would rather it be exo. I want rollover protection for me and the fam and the poor piggie....

Not a fan of exos, but there's no other way to keep the body nice in the midwest. I've rubbed a whole lot of paint off of mine in the last year or so.

I have an interior loop too. I wanted a place to mount the shoulder harnesses and a triangulated hoop in case of a hard barrel roll. The exo just can't have good enough lateral strength. It also ties into my rear shock hoop and supports a shelf just below the height of the tail gate for reachable storage.

It is behind the B pillar because there is no room for my shoulder and the B-pillar. It would completely intrude on the back seat if I had one. I thought about running one inside the B pillar had I kept it a 4 door.

seatbelts

That is one heck of a cage!!!!! I am kind of thinking about something to mount my seat belts to. I don't plan to get up that path you are going.

What a scene to be in that spot from your picture. How long did it take to get outa there? Did you go foward or backward?

I have a redline cage in my piggy. Very happy with it.

Shoulder seat belts up front and in the rear.

got any pics, Dude?

I'll post some tomorrow.

cagebelts

Just bought that cage listed in classified. Stoked! Now to get it fit right. I'll post some pics when I am done. If I can figure out the camera thing.

Three point shoulder retractable seatbelts for four! Sweet

finally remembered to get pics of my rear "cage". kind of hard to see, but you get an idea of where it fits. looks like it sticks out into the rear passenger door area, but if you look, that's where the seat would sit when it was bolted up too.
