Bought this kit from Rocky Mountain Cruisers a couple months ago and I'm just getting around to putting it in now.

Basiclly 2 pieces of metal flat stock with a nut welded to the back side of each one. You remove your front seat with the adjusters and install these 2 pieces of flat stock on the left and right front mounts. Then you do a 180 degree turn with your rear pillar mounts. With the front brackets installed and your rear mounts reversed, extra 2"!! Simple right?

The left seat adjuster bracket is fine, only one hole in the front and rear, can't screw that up. Right seat adjuster bracket rear hole is fine, one hole, lines up. The front 2 holes is where I'm having some issues. 1st, the seat adjuster bracket is not sitting flat, kind kicked up in the front, should be able to see that in the pics. Also, there is no hole for the front hole in the seat adjuster bracket to bolt to, just the rear hole in the front of the bracket. Also, if I put a hex head bolt in 1 of the holes that is in the piece of flat stock, it won't allow the seat adjuster bracket to come down and sit level, assuming it would come down?

Am I missing something, Thanks, Matt

Yes, I should have posted that, first thing this morning. Got a recording saying they were going to be gone all this week until March 1st, please leave a msg and we'll get back to you then.

I wish I could run a business that way? Get a hold of customers at my convienence?

I don't have that kinda of patience to wait a week and a half, we live in a, "I want it now society!!!" And, I want to know now, just thought someone here might have installed one of these?

Thanks, Matt

Stretch,

I was thinking the same thing, but was curious if anyone else has run into this problem? There really isn't much to this set up. The instructions are very straight forward, pretty much remove bolts and install are bracket. It says nothing about drilling and tapping.

Wonder why they put the hole in the bracket to bolt into the rear original hole? Like I said before, if I put a hex head bolt in that hole (which came in the bracket) you would never be able to get the seat adjuster to sit flat with that bolt there?

I wish they would tend to there store and answer the freaking phone so I could ask them, but they'll get a hold of me when they have time. >:(

Thanks, Matt

Perhaps they do not use both holes on that bracket...and that the front bolt hole in the original seat bracket is not re used...

Often, many kustom things that are represented one way, are nothing as they were sold...

Just make it work so you feel comfortable/safe with the install...

And not defending them, or making any excuses for anyone, but sometimes thing do come up, and people that run a smaller shop, can not be there everyday, all the time to give the level of customer support that you, or anyone else expects in this "I want it now society!!!".

This is a reality...the expectations of the people in the society are not...

Good luck!

i would have to agree with poser in that sometimes with aftermarket products the directions are very generic and that you have to costomize to fit your vehicle, as long as you can see how the product is supposed to work and if you can adjust it to fit your situation then i think you should be fine in your installation i dont agree however with poser in a sense that just because you are a small company you should not have to provide good customer service for your product maybe that is why they are still a small company because they cannot keep up with the "i want it know society" :whoops: good luck

Said nothing of the sort....

Interesting comprehension skills...

Your inability to see the infinite variables that could be in play here does nothing to lend strength to your point. Further, I am not saying that simply because an individual operates a smaller shop, that they get a free pass to provide marginal or poor customer service, simply that it is difficult to be in many places at one time, and to tend to the responsibilities, not just at the business, but in life as well.

There are things in life beyond the Toyota Land Cruiser, and far more important. I see this as something that many in the "I want it now society" have a difficult time understanding.

It really seems that some people have a difficult time realizing that they are not the only person in the world, nor are they the only person that has a problem, or a need (which usually is a want, and not a need), or that there could be a person that runs a business, and has a life outside of it too. The "I want it now society" is not based in reality, and whenever reality rears it's head, it amazes me how much whining and vendor bashing ensues from that crowd. Simply because a person owns a business, does not mean that they cannot tend to personal or family matters, go on vacation, be called to civic duty, or something else.

Also, stating that the customer service, or perceived lack of, is in any way relative to the size of a company does not fly. There are many who operate smaller specialty shops that provide a level of customer service that cannot be equaled by the larger shops, and are comfortable with their situation, and level of commitment, and are not interested in the least to be as large as the "other guys" out there. Being large is not synonymous with being good.

Good luck!

I go to RMC a lot for stuff. They are a small shop. The wife does the web page and the books and Ron runs the shop with his son sometimes helping out. To stay open would mean no vacation. I went there once and they were on vacation, was a bit of a pain, BUT they provide excellent and friendly service. Part of opening your own shop is being able to take off when you want. I like dealing with them.

I believe I saw someone else selling those kits. If you can't find the manufacturer, try someone else who sells them and pretend you bought it from them when you call.

FYI my comprehension skills are just fine and it does not take a scientist to understand what you are trying to say :flipoff2:. and if my comprehension skills are so bad then why does it take a three page reply to try to explain yourself? ??? i also can see that i must have hit a sore spot and if running a small business is your thing that is great more power to you but if you cant provide good customer service then people are going to go somewhere where that can provide the service they are looking for. just the facts man. (p.s. dont need another three page reply thanks) ;)

We'll, I got my driver side seat recovered last night and the seat rail slide brackets bolted to the seat and then bolted down to the mounts.

As you can see in the pics the front of the slide rail bracket came down after I snugged up the bolts. It still doesn't explain why they drilled a hole in that flat bracket for the rear hole in the front left bracket?

I think I will be able to drill a hole and tap a bolt and catch the sqare tub underneath the mount. I think it should work fine?

Looks like you are doing a nice job. Sweet cruiser!

I have stretched the legroom a coupel of times just as you are doing... looks like you have it all figured out...

As for the business aspect...

I run a small business (two part-timers and I)... We arn't always there to answer the phones, and we do take off on wheeling trips for days at a time... but it comes doen to this... you want to talk Cruiser with some pimple-faced high school kid that owns a "built" Civic, or wait a minute and talk with guys that use the parts, produce the parts, sleep with the parts, and dream of ways to improve parts???

Mabey some of you need to talk 4Wheel Parts Whoresellers into stocking some cruiser parts... :D

Well put Kurt.

Kurt- Thats exactly why I like dealing with Ron at Rocky Mountain Cruisers. He knows his stuff. When ever I buy something from him he stops and tells me what to watch out for.

the middle hole in this bracket needs to be marked and drilled in the seat rail and a bolt will go through the seat the RMC piece and the mount.

Kinda goes back to the Ma and Pa shops vs. the big boys like wal-mart. As stated before big does not always mean better. I would much rather go into local hardware store and talk about my needs to the old guy behind the counter that has heard the story before, walks back to row 4, mid row, pulls out the part i need and says here you go. Walk into wal-mart, lucky to find a guy to talk to and you get the answer sorry do not have it, or you might want to try this (have no clue if it will work) or here it is, last one, and going to break in a week so poorly made.

No one likes to be without their cruiser however, I would rather have the specialty places that we are lucky to have to deal with than having only checkers autoparts. Than again I am willing to wait for quality parts and deal with good people than to have it now. My .02.

By the way thanks kurt for getting back to me so soon today.
