Ya that is why I am doing a 9.5" RuffStuff housing, 80 knuckle balls welded in. So 9.5" diff with the larger birfs. Should be pretty sweet and work well in this Cruiser.

Cheers

That will be a neat combo! You planning to run stock inners or do something custom?

How difficult of a task is that to weld the knuckle balls in the proper orientation? Do you have a template to follow?

You weld it in to appropriately place it for pinion and caster. So no template. 💯 based on the rest of your suspension/weight/steering.

You need to know what you are doing that is for sure. It is not something for beginners. I will need to get the housing machined to accept the new chromoly knuckle balls. The balls have a step in them and a stop/ridge for fitting to the housing. It is a fairly tight somewhat press in fit. If the cut on the housing is straight they will self align.

We will be welding on new leaf spring perches on the housing to set pinion angle, after that I will set the caster via the knuckle balls and weld them in.

I just ordered front & rear Currie Rock Jock! So yeah, doing the sway bars right out of the gates. Don't need to order a ton of parts still, rear RCV shafts, a pair of Eaton e-lockers, new gears, rear shocks and leaves. I guess tire & wheels as well. That is most of it at this point.

Cheers

Can I do this job with my 120v welder and flux core??

J/K

I’m pumped about this build. Gonna be sick.

Plenty beefy for this Cruiser.

Cleaned up and nearly ready for the next step-phase.

Need to cap the skid still and I have decided to truss the top of the housing. Probably done with the bottom.

It’s getting a RuffStuff traction bar to control axle wrap. Oh ya! 🤙

You can see more clearly here where the cap for the skid is still needed.

Love everything you are doing. Keep up the beautiful work. Just wanted to throw in a cool mod idea. Just incase you needed an expensive tent. 😝

Time for the ding dong steering to go away.

Parts pile has started! 😁

Oh ya, this is 100% where I am going with the Cruiser. Been wanting to do this to a 70-series for awhile. 😎🤙
