Just an update for people who come across this looking for answers:
The RockAuto Alternator (in OP picture), is a MPA 14340 also sold under Pure Energy 14340 and many other brands:
MPA Electrical (itself),
Remy,
Terrepower (formerly BBB Industries),
Quality-Built, and
Duralast are all the same unit with 14340 part number.
It's an Internally regulated
NEW alternator from China, though it says remanufactured on the box and unit sticker.
It will bolt up just fine and plugs in with an included pigtail. It does not look anything like the OE unit, but works fine, bolts up properly and is 55 amps per MPA tech support. It comes with a two-grove-pully and the single groove pulley should be swapped over, but you can use the INNER groove pulley in a pinch, but it is 15mm, not the 17mm of the stock pulley. If you use the two-groove pulley, the belt will sit a little proud, but work fine.
Posting this because remans of the stock ND unit seem to be unobtanium now, and I suspect there will be more and more people getting this different-looking replacement Alternators and wondering the same things...
Durability? Time will tell.
@DrRock installed something similar but looks like a better unit. Unfortunately, that model # on the sticker just leads to a 10 o'clock version of the stock alternator which is really used on non-usa versions and early Celica. Be nice to find out what the actual part number is of that unit....
