I did mine at home. There would be more options with bends and exit point at an exhaust shop.

I like the side exit, but in the right shelf situation it could get pinched.

Any rear exit would have to end before the hitch rail or it would be candidate for shelving too.

I’m in around $50 parts for the 3” 90 and the 4” tip.

Your bumper will take the impact of obstacle departure smacks if you run the exhaust straight back. Out to the side it could possibly get crunched. Really depends on what you do and where you go with the truck. Thats my opinion. Take that as you will.
hmmmmmmm. guess

yeah the shop i'm getting it done at is charging $100, im sure it wont have the shiny tip like yours. Guess I'll sleep on it. I was planning on doing rear exit, but not sure if i cut it short of the hitch if fumes are gonna be an issue inside.

wont be an issue. i've still got the tupperware air catcher back there and had a local hack cut mine and run it straight back, with a slight down turn at the end. haven't noticed any fumes

No fumes on mine either.
Tucked and rearward.

Here's my cut. Same bumper, no fumes. You can also see the 24gal LRA.

Can you post a pic of the routing of yours? I checked the build thread and didn’t see anything close up

I dropped it off at the shop this morning. My instructions were just to basically duplicate this. tucked up to the rear, cut before hitch rail with the end pointed down. I gave him this pic of @Willy beamin 's 200 as the model. I'll post up pics when i get it back later today

the shop i took it too went a little rogue on my instructions, but i like how it turned out. they abandoned the stock hanger so they could get it tucked up even higher. they then ended up hanging closer to the back of the truck.

Hopefully they didn't hard mount the hanger. The rubber isolator was there for a reason. Wouldn't hurt to put some split loom on your exposed added wiring, just don't ask me how I learned that tip.

Agree. On mine, they cut off the resonator in a way that retained the hanger just forward if it.

i saw the exhaust today. the shop cut off the rubber hanger and relocated it close to the tail end of the truck. the factory hanger is still in use, just relocated.

agreed, the wires need split loom. it was a rush job to get ready for a trip. not pretty yet, but the three way lights in the bumper work great and have full functionality.

after the trip we'll go back and clean up the wiring.

As much as i hated to cover up @TexAZ beautiful art of wiring, i did do the whole split loom thing a few days ago. Got everything wrapped and covered in electrical tape. I used some larger 1" split loom near the trailer harness to fit everything. I also relocated and tucked up as high as i could go the Tekonsha 118158 2 to 3 Taillight Converter (not sure if this is waterproof, doesn't say in specs). Pics attached also showing how they re located the rubber hanger.

Like @TexAZ said though, he got the 3-way lights are working 100%, so very happy thats done and working. "it was a rush job to get ready for a trip"....and it was probably 105 degrees out when we were working on it, so all things considered...i'm impressed :)

Hey guys - late adopter here. Just gave James at RLC a ring and plunked down for this rear bumper. This thread has been super helpful w making the decision. Talking w James on the phone about his learnings and refinements over time cinched the deal.

Although James can customize to hearts content, there seems to be a tried and true aspect to the original design. If anything, o just requested he consider making room for a second Jerry can. But, if doing so introduces too much quality/fit risk, then just do what is known to work.

Going to pair it w the metal tech ghost rider stage 3 front bumper (flat, no hoops, all the lights). John Love over at Metal Tech was great to work with and get that bad boy on order.

Front bumper should arrive late next week. RLC rear bumper is currently about 6 weeks out.

Am honing in on Bud built ultimate (.188) sliders w kicker, but bear metal is “10+ weeks” out w another couple weeks for powder coating and freight time - a good quarter lead time at least. Keep missing them open due to time zone difference. Love the bud built just bolt in; install instructions look pretty straight forward.

Anyhow, not to jack the thread, will update you guys on the RLC rear bumper progress and maybe ask follow-up questions on install if needed.

.120 DOM BudBuilt sliders are amazing and worth the wait. Get them.

Thanks, friend.

Aye - sorry in advance to op for the slight tangent to sliders...

So, are you saying the standard 0.120 are sufficient or would the 0.188s be worth the extra hundred bucks or so? Was thinking better have and not need than need and not have, but even that mantra has its limits...

Sorry if I missed earlier in the thread, but how do you guys attach these wing cover plates? I bought some short stainless M8 bolts with nylock’s today. Planned to drill 3 holes on each side. Problem is there is no way to access the inside once the plate is on so I don’t know how to hold the nut. What am I missing?

Late response here. James drilled two holes then shot a rivet in each hole. That held the end cap secure against the bumper wing.
Touch up the rivet head with black paint.

James sent over a pic of the completed rear bumper.

Kept it largely in-line with James' original, tried and true design - just requested a second jerry can holder be added to the left side. (Last time we did Death Valley, I used all 10 extra gallons before emerging in Bishop.) Am digging the symmetry in design.

It will ship to the local powder shop in the next week or so, get in queue to be painted, then begins the install journey.
