Been to Canada a few times but only to Toronto and Montreal. When I first came to Canada, Nortel was everyone's favorite company and you got treated as royalty when you came through the airport once they knew you were Nortel. Last time I came to Toronto everyone seemed to have lost a packet on Nortel shares and I felt like a leper. Still I don't work for Nortel anymore so I guess I'm welcome again. Was going to try to emigrate to Arizona but the Americans don't want the brits for some reason - not sure why, we are almost human. Canada was always the first choice but the cold weather put my wife off a bit, mind you she's coming round to the idea now - the UK is going to the dogs now, going to have to leave before the government makes us all bankrupt.

the nice thing about Calgary, we get about 30 days of overcast a year, even when it is bitterly cold the sun is out...
i can not think of a better city/province to live in. we were thinking of moving back to Ontario but i would miss the mountians and BC has the worst goverment going (and PST). Alberta has a booming economy, mountians, great people and for Calgary we have the chinooks that come in just whenyou don't think you can take the cold anymore.

Wayne, I'd love to come wheeling with you guys sometime, as long as you don't mind schooling another total newbie.

Fianlly, this may be a stupid question, but is there any way to retrofit an electric locker onto my 78 without swapping out the rear end? If only I'd known then what know now, I'd have held out for a truck with the locker option.

of course you can come up for a run, i enjoy the look on the newbies faces when they see what their vehicle can do with just a bit of guidence. very seldom do i use the locker and if you have a limited budget you can always install an aussi locker...

Kind of off subject, but , what kind of lube weight do you guys run in the diffs and transfer/transmission there? I got synthetic in all places in both the cruiser and the Taco, but when it gets cold, like down to -20C and the vehicles have been parked outside for more than say 3hrs, the drive train is really stiff.
Nice pictures, I shy away from winter trail runs, I'm just a wimp when it comes to being outside in the cold, mainly the fear of breaking something when it is -20C outside I don't mind taking road trips though, since you don't usually do anything extreme as long as you stay on the road.

Couple of those downhills almost look like a ski run.

It climbed the hill easily and then up came Carlo with no problem but i love the look on a newbi's face when they finally see what a cruiser can do.

At the risk of hijacking yet another thread, there are all sorts of tricks that have been discussed about tranny/xfer warm up in cold weather. I did the tranny in 5th/xfer in neutral trick this morning because it got below 30 degrees F last night for the first time this winter (I know, it's wimpy). Actually, now that I do the search, you brought the subject up about the same time last year

Is that up the Gargantua Caves in the Crowsnest?

Some of the pics look A LOT like it.
If so notice all of the cleared trees that where on the road? During that big freak snowstorm in September hundreds of tress came down over that road. I spent two days with a friend clearing that road. It was fun!
