So is this the spread on the light bar? Is this the spot pattern? Can you get a flood pattern on these or better yet a center section spot and an outer left/right flood?

I have my HID's setup as 2 spots in the center and 2 floods on the outer left & right side.

Not at all like the HID's I have. I would hope for more of a spread on teh light bar.

Large version of Taylor's picture.

I did try this but it cannot be correct. It says 165,000cd with a 25 Degree Beam converts to 25 lumens. That is ridiculous....unless it means 25,000 lumens...which cannot be right either.

All I know is you cannot look at the HID's when they are on....they are way to bright to look at ... so they are more than 25 lumens. Mag Flashlights put out more than that ..!!

At this website. the cd rating seems to be about 60% of the lumens rating. I am not sure of the beam angle though.

Flashlights made by Streamlight, Underwater Kinetics, Bright Star Lighting/Koehler, Emissive Energy/Inova, Princeton Tec, Petzl, Pelican Products, SureFire and more | www.BrightGuy.com . the professional flashlight experts.

None of it makes any sense. I am determined to figure this out.

google sez....
candela (millicandela) to lumen conversion wizard

"To briefly explain the math the wizard does, it simply applies the conversion 1 candela = 1 lumen/steradian. To do this, it converts the beam angle you supply into a solid angle in units of steradians"

here's the answer:
thems thar lights r bright

Does anyone have a picture (or can take one) of a flood and spot beam comparison of these lights? I was wondering how the beams independently compared to each other's pattern.

we run the 40'' on some of our hummvees and theyyyy brite!!!! saved me on runing over crap few times here , love them , my gunner has stepedon the bar lots of times even sat on it , with stood the dust heat crap thrown from mraps , great product, run them for 6+ hrs at a time no prob , when i get back form this deployment im gonan buy two 10s for my fjc and a 40 for top just looking for a pic of what one 10 does ? just wondering

So no pics on the beam patterns eh? I wish I had a set of these to look at in town.

Compared to the LightForce 170 HIDs, these lights are less focused and spread the light much better closer to the rig. If you want to drive 100+, you may need the Light Force. Anything else, these work amazingly well. There is a good writeup of the lights in Overland Journal. I can take pics for you but mine is spot in the middle and floods on the side.

I was really wondering how much of a difference in the "SPOT" versus "Flood" pattern there was with those LEDs. Many LED lights now a days have so many different beams even though they may advertise them as the same beam pattern. Bottom line is I am wondering what beam I would choose for me. Im anal about trying before buying I guess.

Is there a way that you can place a piece of cardboard (or something to block light) so I can see a difference of the spot and flood? If I understand right, your bar is one long bar and you cant control which section turns on.

Floods for expedition lights?

Trying to decide whether 1 4", 1 6", or 2x4" are needed for each side of my roof rack, and then whether 1x6" is enough for a rear light.

Looking for lighting while parked/camping (and for the rear light, to use as reverse light).

Would get floods in all configurations. Can anyone tell me if 1x6" is enough flood to cover each side (and rear)? What is the throw distance and area covered by the 6"? 4"?

Pictures of the flood patterns would be helpful. I can't find that info on Rigid's site.

thx

Robert

Here is what I have for the rear. For task lighting, the lights need to be above you so that you only look into the light if you look up. If you try and light up camp from the side, you can't look in that direction, it is too bright.

Sweet pic! How do you like that 4 in the rear? Seems like a perfect backup light.

I have a set of the Duallys as back-ups, they are pretty nice, but I have them set up on brackets on the roof rack so they can pull double duty when I hit the camp site. When I get the new wiring done, I'll take pics of the spread of 2 dually's

I also have a Rigid LED bar (40") on the rack, that thing is craaaaazy bright:grinpimp:

Soooo Awesome! Would love to own that truck.

14" Rigid in the flood pattern :grinpimp:

Pattern pic on a wall - this was taken before I added the 14" up front. Distance is about 25' and the 50" has floods on the edge and a spot pattern in the middle. I'll get some shots of the throw next week and post them up.

I'd really like to see some night pics of just the 14 if you get a chance, that one is more in my budget right now and would be closer to what I could mount on my Slee Original

treeroot, that is one sweet looking cruizah!

how do you find the brightness for offroad? would you prefer a different beam pattern or anything?

The combination of a spot pattern in the middle and flood pattern on the sides is perfect for the 50".

Here are some pics of the 14" only, no headlights.

Nice pic of the 14". Decisions, decisions.... Guess I would have to build a rack if I want the 50" bar. Appreciate the pics!
