Yeah I run the 84"x 49", here's a couple of pics, not the best to show you, but it sits nicely within the roof line.

Wow I think that looks great and is probably now my first choice! Any thoughts on the narrower footprint vs 56" other than appearance? Ever wish for the additional space? Thanks for posting the pics.

I definitely prefer the appearance of the narrower rack, I have a number of lights permanently mounted, a 120w solar panel and there's still plenty of space up there for jerry can holders, maxtrax, awning, camp gear etc. Mine has the side rails also, which again reduces the overall space, but it just dresses it up nicely and provided a tie down point as well.

I’ll toss some building materials up there every once in a while or ladder and I like that I’m able to prop items up against Pioneer and not touch vehicle.

I like the 49" width rack... it follows the 100's body lines better. Plus, if you add an awning, it isn't way out there.

Just helped a friend install bowfin rack and last summer helped install pioneer back bone on 4 runner. Bowfin was much easier and love the fact you can easily remove bars or add extra. Also priced better and owner is avid cruise head

I'm interested in how far the pioneer rack sits above the top of the truck on top of the backbone rails. I have access to a pretty good rebate for Rhino Rack, but the hundy still need to fit into the garage! Can somone who has the pioneer and the backbone measure how high the rack sits on top of the truck?

You and I both! I have a amazing rebate too. It's to the point where it would be stupid to get any other rack.

Love the way the rack looks.

Soooo... Are these rebates public?
I don't want to speak for the others on here but most people find discounted Rhino Rack pricing through a company called Expert Voice. It depends highly on your employer and chosen industry of employment. They provide a portal of "Pro Deals" for "experts" in law enforcement or the outdoor industry. Most products are related to these fields such as camping equipment, bicycles, running gear, etc.

If you are not already familiar with this company, chances are you are not able to access it, but again, highly variable.

I just thought that Ben's roof rack should be included in this thread, since there are several racks being compared. I didn't see anyone mention it, if i missed it then my apologies. Anyway...

This is exactly where I can get my rebate from...and if abused it can go away for me.

If I didn't get a huge rebate for Rhino Rack...this is the route I would go, or Gamaviti

I have a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform (full length) on my wheeling 100 and a full length Gamiviti Expo on my DD 100. If you're mounting an LED bar to the front of the rack, you get a little more vibration shake from the Rhino than the Gamiviti. I'd be perfectly happy with either rack.

If you're considering a RTT in the future, the full length rack is your option if you'll go with a hardshell RTT. A hardshell RTT will take up all the available space of a full length rack. The smaller RR Platform will fit a fold-over style RTT without issue.

The extra space over the windshield from the full length RR isn't an issue for me, but as mentioned above, it does produce more vibration/shake. You'll only notice that at night with a LED bar on. Otherwise, you'll never notice it. I don't ever hear it shaking.

No issues with weight or structural design. My son and I have stood on top of our closed foldover tent (with other items strapped to the rack) to get a better look at wildlife. Never any issues. Rhino Rack makes attachments for absolutely any piece of gear that you own as well. It's a pretty sweet system.

The 1" extra width of the rack took a little bit for me to get used to. I felt that it looked too big at first since the Gamiviti rack basically follows the profile of the 100. Pics for reference.

Hello,

I was curious...I have the same 84x56 rack but having some issues w/ the install. Are you using the original fixed points in the front? or the alternate just rear of the original points? Thanks.

Are you using the original fixed points in the front?

I went ahead and used the original front points. I didn't want the hassle of cutting up that strip to find the rear mounting spots they want you to use. I've had no issues with using the front locations.

Interesting...I just spoke to them and they said there is no hardware available for the front / original fixed points for the 100 series LC. Do you recall what part you used for the front legs on the original fixed points? Thanks so much!

the question I should ask is are you looking into the backbone or just the 6 legs?

I'm running the 6 legs and using the LC100 fit kit. Bolts right into the front locations. You have to add the cross bars underneath the platform. So you can put them where you need them.

@Batlowboyreally like the look of your roof rack. Leaning heavily toward a Rhino Rack at this point. I'm thinking I'd like to get the backbone mounts. Do you know if that will work with the narrower 49" wide platform? Is there any advantage to the backbone over the 6 individual mounts? Does the rack sit any higher then the factory rails?
Thanks
