Rhino 4x4 bumper group buy is happening

Hey folks, I just got off the phone with @Eric Sarjeant who has installed a couple of these now, and he saved me a few headaches on this bumper. Turns out, the Comeup wireless synthetic winch is a much better fit than a Warn with this bumper due to the solenoid size. He said it’s possible to use a Warn, but in an install he recently did, they had to work quite a bit of magic to get the Warn solenoid to fit - in the engine bay under a Slee air compressor mount. Maybe Eric will chime in with details if necessary, but I’m just putting this here as an FYI for anyone who has yet to buy a winch.

Eric, thanks for everything you do in this community. Hugely appreciated.

Also, for everyone who had gotten in touch with me before my heart surgery, thanks. I made it through, and am now at home recovering. Overall, things are heading in the right direction, and I’ll be back behind the wheel in a few weeks.

Thanks, The Warn and Comeup both fit in the Rhino bumper, both are great winches. I recommended the Comeup seal gen2 12.5rs for @gzahnd because the solenoid is "shorter" than the Warn Zeon 12-S Platinum. This came up in conversation because he is considering the 30" Light bar modification for Heritage Edition grille. The Warn solenoid will interfere with the light bar and thus create a major PITA and added expense to relocate the solenoid to another area. In my case, customer wanted the Warn, so I relocated it under the ARB twin air compressor (see photo below).

How does this bumper compare in terms of quality(strength)and safety to the ARB?

I was on the fence as I LOVE this bumper.
Unfortunately/fortunately I got in an accident today. My front bumper is a mess and I will need a new one. Any chance they/you might have room for another late comer? 🙏🤞

Ok gents, group buy is officially CLOSED.

@northwaverider, you may or may not still have a chance but the ONLY way you'll get in is if you contact Rhino immediately. Even then there is no guarantee. If they let you in, you'll need to pay immediately as well. We cannot hold up the rest of the orders. My apologies but they don't want to drag this out indefinitely. For those who were on the fence and opted to sit this one out or those who see this thread in the future, they did say that they'd be happy to revisit with another group buy at a later time.

Those of you who are part of the group buy and have paid, there remains one outstanding unpaid invoice. If I cannot reach him tomorrow, he's out and we're proceeding. I'd expect you all to receive a nice little gift before Valentine's Day, courtesy of Rhino 4x4.

This is kind of impossible to answer, unless someone had both bumpers on identical vehicles, and then crash tested and rated both bumpers in the same controlled environment. That said, AU is much more stringent about aftermarket product safety testing than the US, so I’m not worried about it. Rhino 4x4 are nearly 30 years old, so they’re doing something right.

I think it was @Markuson with Ruby (the Land Cruiser) who also looked into it... the bumpers are crash tested and air bag rated.

I’ve never heard of them until just recently on this board, so great to hear they’ve been around that long.

Well, I sure love the bumper! So long as it’s been crash tested and complied with the airbag system, please count me for the next future group buy! Does Slee install these? Otherwise, maybe @Eric Sarjeant would do it and a couple other upgrades. I don’t trust anyone around here to do it.

I can't say definitively but Aussie safety standards are higher than here in the US from what I have heard. I would be happy to install!

Interesting side note. I was reading more about Rhino 4x4, and after going down a bit of a rabbit hole, I discovered they’re actually an Argentine company, founded in 1992. They also now have large distribution in South Africa and Australia. I asked our contact at Rhino about it, simply because I’m curious about manufacturing and supply chain, and he told me that even today most of their stuff is still made in Cordoba, Argentina, and the development and testing is done is Australia. I sure like that loop bar. Makes a great handle and cool spot for light bar.

Bar or no bar?

We are in the final stage. All buyers have paid. Just waiting to hear back from Rhino about what happens next.

Edit: one late comer making payment in the next 24 hours "then we can start dispatching".

Now that we all have the Bumper covered, what is everyone going to do with the suspension (if stock)?

I'm hoping to order some OME/lift to complete the build.

Any recommendations? Keeping it in the family instead of searching the threads.
