I was planning on swapping in some 63" chevy springs, either 3/4 or 1 tons. So I know the suspension will be up to it. Just wanted to see if the axles could take it weight without bending. Thanks for all of the input, Its nice to talk to someone who has done this before.

If you are going to put fj62 axles under your rig that would be better since a fj62 front axles has a factory re enforced axle that didnt come with fj60 axles (Thanks Georg for that bit of knowledge when we last met ;p) And for t-case put a 62 t-case because the guts of a 62 are bigger and stronger than that of a 60 t case.

is the gearing of a 62 case any different from a 60?

I'm not sure, I think its the same as the 86,87 FJ60 case. I know both types have the 38mm Idler. Just the 62 has bearings instead of bushings or something.

this is awesome i want to do this to my 60 so bad. I just need to have the knowledge and motivation to do it. It would be nice to have a bunch of friends to help out. Nice work keep it up.

Cruiser, I've got my 6bt ready to go in my '84 60. nv4500 being rebuilt now before it goes in. about the SOA, I've already got 5 inches of lift on my ride, do yu think I will still need to do the SOA? I am sure i will need to beef up the springs regardless!

did you have any pictures of your radiator and the mods to it?

Did you use the stock cummins motor mounts on the 60 frame or did you fab something on the frame?

All my buds are watching this thing close, ready for it to be unveiled!

I've been driving the old one for 15 +/- years, I love it. So after the wreck I just had to build another. Initially I just had to take it to the Referee station and it passed becouse the engine came out of a newer Calif. smogged vehicle. Shifter comes out of the stock hole.

I'm not sure about the heavy duty vs light duty, but I would argue that the drive train in an FJ60 is almost as heavy as 3/4 ton truck.

So how did you do the Level-o-gauge in the dash? Great truck!
