Just thought I'd post a photo of the worst bearings. These were from the #6 cylinder... the others were better, but still worn. Truck has 218,000 kms but there is evidence of the bearings being replaced with Toyota brand bearings in the past (in Japan). I used ACL bearings this time.

Also if anybody is planning to do theirs be warned that oil pan is a real pain to get off!

I've heard different things... They are the same bearings as a 1HZ (non-turbo). Maybe the extra stress of the turbo is too much for them? I have also read that Toyota brand bearings are not manufactured strong enough, compared to ACL brand. And I also read somewhere about ultrasonic vibrations inherent to inline 6 cylinders which might cause it.....

I have read of people in Australia and Japan getting their BEBs replaced under warranty from Toyota, so they are obviously aware of the problem... Bottom line is, replace them with ACLs as soon as you import a truck!

I have spoken with several people including John one this and it is a possible oil type issue or lack of maintenance, but definitely quality of bearing.

Jay will dispute changing them out because he has not seen them at this point, I have and its good to see another set replaced that could be near failure.

Petermac even commented on the craddle bearings as showing wear, (crank bearings).
