Hey Guys,

Been trying to research if anyone has replaced their powered mast with a flexible static one? Looking to replace my broken one, but I'd rather just use a shorter antenna mast that is static. Something like this.

Any thoughts? Would this work if I removed the motor?

FYI, I had a new double din head unit installed... My installer played with my broken mast, and FIXED IT. it was gummed up, and he regressed the mast and all is well. while not my first choice, it works pretty damn well.

Thanks tacoduck. The motor is still good on mine. Just the mast is broken. I just know if I replace it with another retractable, I'm going to forget about it again. That's how this got broken. :(

I managed to whack mine with a snow broom and bent it enough so it wouldn't retract the last foot... I pulled it out and used a tube cutter to slice out the crunched up section of the mast :hillbilly: and when reinstalled, made sure the mast didn't go all the way up by using the button on the dash.

I'll fix it properly come spring but it's kind of a b*tch to work with such fidgety things in 20* weather.

So, no one has put a static flex antenna on their 100 series?

I saw a writeup on mud of someone using a tundra antenna. came out great, but was more than I wanted to do. I was thrilled when my audio guy fixed the old one...

Thanks guys. I saw the tundra one. Not exactly the same thing.

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2000 Lexus LX470 and am replacing the antenna (though would have also preferred a fixed one!!!). I purchased a new antenna off ebay from a reputable seller. At first the new antenna mast appeared longer than the old antenna mast, so I removed the antenna motor assembly and retrieved the broken off section of antenna mast only to discover my new antenna mast is about 6 inches shorter than the original antenna when factoring in the broken off piece. ...

So to put it simply is it ok to install a new antenna, that has a mast that is shorter than the original antenna.... will it still work?

Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance! :) :) :)

Did you ever get this question answered? I am in the same boat where I do not want the retractable motorized antenna, just a short one.

Hi guys.

I've been dealing with static coming from my dash when hitting bumps on the road, then going away. This has been intermittent but is beginning to happen often. The powered antenna has been serviced by toyota about 5 years ago and is still functioning as should.

Has anyone experienced this issue? And will the fixed antenna remedy this annoying static noise?

Any help would be appreciated.

Successful replacement, man it was not fun pulling on the mast to get the mast cable out but i managed to do it and looks so much better w/ the shorty fixed mast
