Anyone ever tried replacing a burned out light in the AC control on a 4Runner? I've got a JDM Surf (1994) with a light out I'd like to replace if possible. This is not one of the AC control lights but one of the background lights that come on when you turn the headlights on at night.

Yes they are replaceable... I can't recall how hard it is to get the control panel off on the 90-95's... I think you just pull the knobs off and pry the panel off, but you have to start at the end opposite the clock I think. Under that there's a clear plastic light diffuser that snaps out, and then the bulb(s) with their green condoms.... :D

It's a pain. Not only do you have to pull the cover off, but then you have to take the dash apart enough to remove the bulbs from the rear of the heating/cooling panel.

It's enough of a pain that my heating/cooling panel lights haven't worked since 2000 at the latest. And I've had the dash out in that time. It keeps slipping my mind every time I take the dash out.
