does anyone on the this forum have any tips on removing the door panels and window crank clips?.........have already screwed a couple of clips trying to remove the door panels to install the new window channels.and have no more left......appreciate any tech advice on this one:confused:

Lou you can always use a rag if you don't want to buy a tool. Stretch the rag between the panel and the handle and pull it around. It can take a bit., What your try to do it to get it to grab the clip ends.

lou in addition to the rag i also sometimes use a dental pick type tool, you know the ones they sell at ACE and stuff. it reaches in and grabs the backside of the clip pretty good. on the panel clips, instead of the more expensive tool i just ground a notch in the end of a small prybar i had and it works great.

I had no door panels to speak of when I did mine. I bent a hook in a wire and used it.

Now putting the handle back on with freshly redone door panels is a pain in the butt.

did the screwdriver thing and screwed up a couple of clips.......I tend to do that when I don't have a clue on what I am doing........Crutchfield was closed so will do the rag technique in the morning and will see if I can save my remaining clips; by the way, any sources for these clips?

Have a bunch here as well and can pop some in an envelope...but fyi...lot of 70's sedans had them. Anyway, pm me with a mailing address if you need some.

And the tool is worth the $10.00 if you pop panels very much. Mine is worn out now avter working about 20 vehicles but still usable in a pinch...$10 for ease of use.

When you are done removing your window crank handles please ship them to me so I can inspect them for you to make sure you didn't damage them in any way:grinpimp:

(of course, I failed to mention they would be given a new rig to call home:flipoff2:
