God those LC flares are hideous

Leave it to idiot gulf state for ruining beautiful 200

They did the same thing back in the day on the 100 series. Except back then they used to do the two tone for the flares

Gulf State distributor - ruining Toyota resale value one unit at a time

Due to their idiocy (found in Tacoma special models too), I don't even bother shopping their area when I look for used trucks

Gulf state idiots?

Nah... If it weren't for Gulf State and Australia...our beloved Land Cruiser might go the way of the Blue-footed Booby...

What I wanna know is who slapped that toy robot face on the front of the 570??
My black '11 had flares and I removed them. They were held on by tape.

Well there's your answer...unless they were some different, after-market flares(?).

try to educate yourself before you insult me

I am talking about GULF state the second largest private Toyota distributorship in the world that puts these horrendous flares on based in Houston

I am not talking about the Middle East

No one insulted you. I simply misunderstood the post.

Nope, SE Toyota put them on prior to arriving at the dealer.

I have to admit that Gulf States Toyota distributor sure does some funky stuff to nice-looking Toyota vehicles, apparently just to justify a much higher price and improve profitability. Good thing I'm not in the Gulf States region.

Doesn't all of this junk come in through Jacksonville, FL?

If yes then every dealer has it installed at the port, no?

What ever came about of these flares. I'm interested in a Blizzard set.

I have been trying to figure out why they say they only fit 2008-2011.

I have been kicking around the idea of buying a 2018 LC the past couple months and would really like to run the same wheel and tire combo I am running on my 2011 and it takes the flairs to cover the tires 100% with my 20 offset wheels and a 285/60/18 tire.

Plus I have always liked the looks of the fairs on the 200s. Seems some like them some hate them. I really like them on there.

I would agree with others in that with the 60 offset stock wheels it exaggerates the counter sunk look of the wheels even more. They only work or look good to me if you have 1.25 wheel spacers or custom rims with a less extreme offset.

I can't really tell studying the pics of a 2008-2011 vs the 2016-2018, why they would not fit the same. The fenders and everything looks to be shaped the same from what I can tell. There use to be a website you could buy these from that were already painted and ready to install. I have not been able to find that website either.

I think the flares look great when paired with the right offset wheels and/or wide tires. Stock, they're too inset when paired with flairs. cc1999, your fitment looks great! That's easily enough room to get 305 or 315s underneath her.

None of these look dated in my mind. Quite the opposite, Land Cruisers on steroids.

I always loved the look of those artic trucks. However I believe that Artic stuff is not available to import into the US. At least I never found a way the last time I looked. They have to do some cutting on the body to make all that work. I am told that is a pretty invasive deal to make one look like that.

With my 2011 the 285/60/18 on the 20mm offset wheels and the Toyota level kit, I still have a slight rub in reverse at full lock. We played with the caster for several hours at the alignment shop to get it to as minimal rub as I could. I know I can't go to a 305 with my setup.

The Arctic Truck flares look great... the Gulf States ones look like junk. The kind of double lip at the top edge of the gulf ones is what ruins it for me.

Right on all points as I understand it. The Arctic mods are more than skin deep. Though with the right offset, 305s can definitely work for as I have on mine. 35mm offset is what is needed to make it work without too much hacking. Too much offset, causes the tire to swing too much in its rotation.

Arctic flares do look great. There's obviously a variety of flares out there. Most look good to me, but rest of the car has to be modded accordingly. Wheels with the right offset and wider tires go a long way to making the look work in my mind.

I think these all look great:

There is a slight "flare" in the OE fender panels that started in '13. You might want to check into that. I have not seen any dealer/distributor fender flares since the '13 model.

The fenders 08-18 look the same to me. The front fascia is all that seems to have had some slight changes in contour over the last two updates.
The pic on page one of this thread is a 13-15 model with the OE flairs on it , which is one of the reasons I was thinking there was a good chance they might fit the 16-18 too.

This is all great information for me. I picked up my truck 2 months ago, a 2011 LX570 in Arlington, TX. The car was sold by Sewell Lexus in Dallas so I'm gonna bet that it came in from port with the flares as well. The owner had them painted black somewhere along the line (dealer did it as it is in the Lexus records). I'm not sure what I will end up doing with them. The biggest benefit I can see here in Illinois is that it keep the road salt off the body in the wheel wells (or traps it in there, not sure which yet). It is good to know they are just mostly taped on. I can see where they came back off the body a little bit and someone used black silicone to attach them so I'm sure there is a mess to clean up underneath if I ever go to take them off. I expect to have this rig for a long time so time will tell. Perhaps new wheels, spacers, take em off, not sure. Interesting to know now that the dealer likely sold the vehicle this way.

Yes, they are polarizing as I have received some unsolicited advice to burn them with fire... I'm still on the fence.

You are thinking of Southeast Toyota Distributors which is a distributorship of Toyota vehicles in the SE US. Gulf States Toyota is a similar private distributorship based out of Houston, TX and its primary market are the Gulf States and TX. These two companies are separate from Toyota Motor Sales, USA.

These flares are installed at a vehicle accessory installation facility. The Jacksonville port has the SET facility and Westfield, TX (Houston suburb) has the GST vehicle facility. Land Cruisers would be modified at these locations. The parts are not OEM Toyota. They are private aftermarket parts "officially" accessorizing Toyota vehicles.

Toyota allows these two distributorships to modify factory vehicles however they want as long as these distributorships also warranty the parts and installation. Dealers can order these added and most do as a up-sell. The Moran and Friedkin Families have done well accessorizing Toyotas for almost 50 years each now.

SE Toyota also runs SETF (South East Toyota Finance). They also didn't/don't offer the USA Toyota extended warranty, offering their own version instead.

For those who live in the SE Toyota area, you can use the "Build your own" part of the Toyota web page to find a desired vehicle - one that isn't due in for a while. They will show the port installed options that will come with the vehicle. If it was already coming to your dealer, or have your dealer trade another dealer for it, and your dealer can then request a delete (or additional) of the port add-on item(s) - as long as the vehicle isn't in port already - personally verified when we purchased the wife's hybrid Avalon. And of course this only works if you're not in a hurry for delivery.

I would think, but don't know, that the same could be true for Gulf States dealers.
