How do you get these pins out?

They aren't the screw out or push in type and I can't pry them out.

I need to get under the heat blanket to get rid of a wobbly hood.

Try pushing the center section through them remove the whole thing.

they're solid. my plan is to break them and but new ones. i tried to get one or and it exploded. probably slim chance I'll get any more or with damage.

Mine were barbed plastic. Just pull harder and they "zip" out. Most wont be reusable or very good at holding tightly. I got a bag of replacements form auto whatever for a gmc. Just need the shank to be the right size.

After I removed the heat shield thing the paint on my hood went to crap. That thing did a good job protecting the hood for 20+ years and I tossed it in the trash. Oops

Yes. And I’m pretty sure the hood insulator is no longer available from Toyota.

Just snap the plastic clips off and replace them. I removed my hood insulation years ago. Has not hurt my paint at all. Figured I dont need to hold MORE heat in the engine bay, and its neat to watch rain turn into steam when it lands on the hood.
Have used these to replace broken clips on other hoods:

Very inexpensive at my local body shop supplier.

I believe Delta Vehicle Systems has them in stock.
$1 each, dunno if that’s a great deal, but seems reasonable.
