Yes...I've searched.

I'm looking to remove my CD changer from the center console, then hook up something like a DICE or a USASpec IPOD integration kit.

Have two questions:

1. How would I get the replacement console 'inside' trim piece that would let me reclaim my gained console space? I've read on the forum (while searching) that others have found a trim piece for this on EBay, but I'm unable to?

2. Has anyone done what I"m wanting to do in a 2006 or similar truck? I have the built in NAV with Integrated climate controls (sux).

Thanks in advance.

I did this exact thing, but in my ES330. I had a changer inside the console, which failed shortly after I got the car last fall. I didn't care, I have no use for it. I kept my eye on eBay, and eventually I was able to buy an entire center console for $50, that included the interior "bucket" and also a aux power port. I pulled the parts I needed, swapped the bucket into my console. I now have two power ports inside my console, one switched (factory) the other constant on. Then I sold the remains of the console to someone on ClubLexus.com for $25, tossed the busted changer into the recycle pile at our town transfer station.

This summer I will probably be installing a DICE unit, so I can interface my iPod.

@ntsaint did you ever do this? How was the changer removal?

@MtnAddict yes, wound up removing the changer. Was nothing to it. Actually mounted my CB in the vacant space. Even used the changer power harness to tap into switched power. Removal was quick and easy.

Went with the PA20-TOY ipod adapter, really like it. Have had zero issues and it sounds great.

Thanks. I have the ipod adapter running to the radio and I was unsure if disconnecting the CD changer would change anything.

pardon my ignorance here, but you remove the cd changer and can hook up the ipod adapter through the console? Do you have to pull the head unit?

It'd be nice if you could post up some pics and how the integration goes. I'm thinking about doing the same for an android device as I have zero use for cd's.

Thanks in advance.

I will be pulling the changer, but I will probably leave the ipod where it is.

I have the same head unit. Integrated climate controls into the touchscreen!? If I would have known how much a PITA it would be to connect my iPhone, I probably would have got a newer model. Or at least one without touchscreen climate controls. I am using the PA15-TOY. Did you connect yours into where the CD changer was? And how? I am now looking for an interface that is either Bluetooth, or has the connection for the lightning charger.

This thread is very helpful. I have an 03 and have no use for the CD player. I have been trying to figure out how to connect my IPhone 5 and create additional space for cc. Time to order a cubby and the PA20- toy ipod adapter.

NTsaint how difficult was it to run the adapter line into the cubby ?

I know, old thread, but gotta ask the question here.

@ntsaint, if I understand correctly, you've removed the CD changer and not replaced the plastic trim piece? And do you know if its possible to simply add the ipod/bluetooth adapter at the CD changer location instead of pulling apart the dash....

Caught me looking at mud.

I put a CB in the changer location, there is a hole in the plastic bucket when you remove the changer. You'd want to cover that up.

The iPod adapter will have to go in at the radio location. Connector is different.

Most vendors out there selling phone interface will also sell some kind of Y cable to allow you to connect your device without tearing down your vehicle's electronics!
I get ntsaint's goal was also make use of the changer space! For those just looking to connect a phone to your stereo system the Y cable + phone/device interface is the simplest.
I still have my changer case in the truck w a few random CDs and if I want to I can just push it in there to listen as nothing was disconnected!
