Hey cruiser heads on the other side of the state. My sister now resides in kc and is need of a good, honest, reliable toyota mechanic in the rare case that her 99 4runner gives her problems. I would prefer a private shop. Please either pm me or reply in this thread with some options. Thanks for any help and i'm sure i'll catch a few of you on the trail soon enough.

I have never used this place but a couple people I know have taken their Toyotas there and been impressed with the service there. They are a Toyota/Lexus repair shop privately owned.

It is in Mission Kansas which is a suburb of KC.

Exact Performamce

Mission, KS 66202

Maybe someone will chime in if they have any experience with them. I know I have seen a lot of 4 Runners there getting worked on and a few Land Cruisers.

They worked on my wife's Honda. Good guys, and I agree lots of Toyotas in the lot.

There is a place up north by Zona that I have bought stuff from before. Good guy, but I can't find any contact info on.

RiverRat is also a great local member with a shop. I would recommend, fixed my rig in less than a minute.

thanks folks i'll send her that way if she ever does have a problem with the 4runner.

I know this is an old thread but for future reference Hendricks Lexus in north KC will match prices, including Exact Performance and Toyota dealers in the area.

Wow. That's crazy talk

Williams Automotive of Lenexa. Bill has done all of the Toyota work that I couldn't at a very reasonable rate. He knows FJ's front to back, prefers OEM parts, and calls with potential "while I was in there" concerns. He puts his money where his mouth is and has four Toyota's in his family, the least of which has 207,000 miles. I recommend him highly.

- Entire fuel flow system service and replacement.
- Coolant system service and replacement (PHH, Radiator, Thermostat, Heater Control Valve)
- Power Steering and Valve Gasket service/replacement

They don't get any better than Bill at Williams Automotive!

Just for my own knowledge. Whats involved in a power steering and valve gasket service/replacement and whats the price on that. Did u replace the steering gear box or a seal?

Here's a summary of the service. I'm not going to quote a price. Bill is fair and the best mechanic I've ever worked with. He has absolutely partnered with me and my vision for the FJ. I'm blessed to have him behind the wrench.

REMOVED ALL INJECTORS TO SEND TO WITCHHUNTER INJECTOR SERVICE
CLEAN EGR PORTS FROM THROTTLE BODY AND INTAKE PLENUM
REPLACED:
FUEL AND COOLANT HOSES ON INTAKE MANIFOLD
BROKEN INJECTOR HARNESS CONNECTORS
EGR VALVE
FUEL FILTER
SPARK PLUGS
FUEL PUMP DUE TO AGE/MILES
INTANK FUEL FILTER
THROTTLE BODY AND INTAKE PLENUM GASKETS
POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE

The valve cover gasket was replaced soon after I got the FJ. It was not replaced correctly, and was still leaking oil. Bill determined that the valve cover gasket had been snagged during install by previous mechanic, replaced it with a new one, and I was good to go.
