At first I thought that putting in %40 biodiesel had something to do with this problem but its obviosly not. The problem has been doing on now for about four days in which the engine will momintarly loose power for 1/4 to 1/2 second and then return to normal. It will do this every 7 to 10 seconds and cycle about 10 times either at idle or on the highway. It does not do this all the time. My companion pointed out the clicking is comming from the right kick panel on the passanger side of the vehicle. Is there a possibility this is the EDIC relay that is cutting in and out? I did see the edic arm move to shut the fuel off for this small fraction of a second then move it back to normal operation.
Thanks for the input.

Not only is it a possibility...that sounds like it!

Now to see if it is doing it on purpose (low oil pressure shutdown feature) or from a ground issue. Check oil level. Clamp a jumper cable from the engine block to the negative pole of the lowside battery (if 24V) and negative pole of either battery (if 12V) and see if it goes away. Ground engine to frame, ground body to frame, make sure ground to frame from the battery is good. Redo all grounds if this gets rid of the issue. If not, get into the relay itself and see if water has gotten in. Check oil pressure if you are at this point and have not solved it.

Do a seach with EDIC and you will find tonnes of reading...

check your alternator. I had a HJ60 that did when the alternator was stuffed. I could make it do it by loading up the system by turning everything on.

fuel control relay
i had the same thing happen after a severe water dunking in my BJ42. i just unplugged the edic motor and stalled it to stop. downside was the bugger would SMOKE black badly (i shut it off in the ovver inject start position).
you can take the fuel control relay to a computor guru and they can sometimes fine the problem.

you can also search under "funky chicken" and find lots of answers

my problem was solved after I fixed my headlight relay. it's all related to some kind of weird grounding or other electrical issue.

check the ground wire for the oil presure sender , i had this same problem and it turned out to be the ground wire had come off .

ditto ..

All answers above seem logical. Greg B points out good stuff. If you do a search on this, there is quite recent threads that contain lots of good info. No point in re-hashing what is there. As it is quite good. If you can't find the good threads I can try posting some of them up.

ah here is some reading

there is more but I picked out obvious ones...

Thanks all. When my truck starts misbehaving will try and locate the problem.

It did a little of the same hesitation last night but have had no time to look at it today. Perhaps I can squeze some time in and find the issue at hand. Can this actually kill the end perm untill the problem is resolved? If it was a ground issue the engine hesitation would be very eratic and unpredictable rather then a patern of engine rpm drop offs every 7-10 seconds and do this over and over for 10 times. Why do I have a funny suspition its the relay. I can effectivly troubeshoot this electrical problem like hundreds of vehicles before it so this should be interesting to find the issue.

Thanks

If the arm is moving, it is the relay(or ground at motor). But it's "why" is the relay doing it. Low oil pressure switch malfunction, bad ground, low voltage from alternator, corrosion, etc....... Try and read some of those threads. They may help the troubleshooting... Good luck!

Location of oil pressure switch and edic relay

While I do have the manual and found that it is a black/yellow wire going into the fuel relay behind the kick panel. That relay sits next to the seat belt relay. Am I correct this black/yellow wire goes to the oil pressure sender is also located next to the oil pressure indicator sender ? The two senders are forward of the exhaust manifold. I disconected it and the engine did not stop after 20 seconds. So if anyone else had a location for the oil pressure it would be helpfull in getting this issue resolved.
