Anyone have a differential shop they'd recommend? I'm looking to regear to 4.88s and add ARB air lockers while I'm at it. But I'm trying to find a cheaper way to do it than having JustDifferentials send me a custom third member. I already checked with Larry at Dirty Parts but they seem very expensive.

Yotamasters in Corona. They did an excellent job on mine and they stand behind their work 100%.

X2 ! My truck is at YotaMasters now with a bad pinion bearing. They did the regear work a few years ago and it appears the bearing has gone bad. Well beyond the warranty period but Eric stood by his work and covered it. Really can't ask for more!

Good guys and good prices!

X3!

Rear pinion bearing went bad about 3000 miles after install and they redid all the work to make sure I was satisfied.

I contacted YotaMasters. They were the cheapest local option. But no one has beat just differentials price yet. $3700ish.

Perhaps but no one know toyotas like YotaMasters. And I suspect no one will stand behind their work like Eric at YotaMasters. Just my two cents but perhaps spending a little more up front might be good insurance later.

Take it to Yotamasters. From another satisfied Yotamasters customer.

I also would recommend Yotamasters. He did good work on mine and stood behind his work.

I bought an ARB third from justdifferentials a while back... and about 20k later the pinion bearing went south along with the seal....and I was getting diff oil going up my air line to the compressor...JT's prices might be better but when you have any kind of issues the fact that they are up in WA becomes a real inconvenience....

Like you Im in SoCal... I took it to YOTAMASTER and they made it all good....
Eric even went through the trouble of contacting JT to explain what he thought might of happened...
From personal experience I would say spend the extra $$ and do this local to you.. no better feeling than to have someone close by, that KNOWS what their are doing and stand behind their work 110%.
I know where Im going to go when I decide to put an ARB on my front axle...

Can't say enough good things about YOTAMASTERS......

Yeah the extra $300 seems worth it. There is one other shop several 100 guys have recommended that I also want to check out.

I'm sure this falls on def ears in 80 group, but spending $4,000 to lock and regear a 100 with 170k on still seems silly and might be better spent toward a downpayment and regear of a Rubicon Unlimited. Decision decisions. That being said, I'm sure ill blow the front diff the next time I go to the central Sierra trails.

It doesn't matter if it has170,000 miles or 170 things can break and I would prefer to not be making payments on something that is broken. Now if the Cruiser is not the right vehicle for you at this time now you need to make a decision but mileage shouldn't be a factor otherwise.

theres something to be said about jumping in your rig and cruising along at 85mph(hwy speeds in so.cali) and not having to worry about taxing your poor little pig too bad.on a rig with 170,000+ miles that is kinda rough vs a nice new rubicon if i had to choose between my 80 and a rubicon for pure piece of mind i would choose the rubi. now the big question is, is it worth 400+ amonth for 60 months?..... i dont think it is in my opinion. ill stick with my poor little pig

Exactly. Denting a $460/mo truck is a whole other issue.

Exactly why I'm paying the $$$ to replace a broken front left birf instead of retiring her at 229,000 miles! Repair bill ( and I'm sure more to come) will still be less than that car payment you reference.

Eric and Yotamasters.....

He just set me up with the thirds I bought from Jus Diffs, wow!

Rig is dialed in.
Pretty sure he fixed a bakers dozen of other little creaks an issues as well.

Dropped it off, shook hands after telling him a list of wishes, he emailed me updates and I returned to he shop to find it perfect.
No games, no "extras" no surprises , just handled it.

I drove down from Ventura, and he waited till 6 pm even!
Some " specialists" in my neck of the woods can't be bothered on their lunch breaks, or only deal in full resto's.....
Their loss.

I would just drop off the truck and be done with it.this way you know it is done right and if there are any issues Eric will be there to stand behind it 100%.
