I found out there is more than ARB out there for these refridgerator / freezer units. I noticed this ENGEL brand as well. I am sure there are others.

Has anyone done a comparison of all the brands out there, and which is the best?

Here is a link I found on the ENGEL brand.

There will be an extensive review of all fridges in the new issue of Overland Journal.

Their site seems to be down for me right now though.

The last issue had a very big review on rooftop tents.

I have the 42 qt ARB one, and it is fantastic.

I recall back when I bought my Engel 4-5 years ago, that Engel was the largest manufacturer. They make them for ARB. Best purchase you'll ever make. It's a back up frig here in Florida for Hurricane Season. You got to have one.

do a search on Camping recovery gear

do a search on this board type in fridges and get 47 threads should answer most of your questions.

There are tons of threads in the "Camping-Gear-Recovery" section, about these. Engel/ARB/Norcold are all from the same manufacturer.

Well if they're all the same quality, I guess just pick your poison. The ARB unit comes with a digital readout standard. I think I'll just get the ARB when I am ready.

I've got an ARB ...using it on the Trail Teams means it's on for months at a time, and gets tossed around constantly as we offroad, do shows, etc....we are HARD on equipment...

thus far, other than some dents ;), it's working excellent. zero complaints :D

It's a very good review overall. Pick up the rag...and enjoy it from cover to cover!

The Engel Frig is much cheaper than ARB. Your paying for the name. (ARB) I find anything over the number 1.5 is the best setting, over 2 freezes. Very little discharge from battery. Best camping or travel purchase you'll make.
