i've read up on this before and am returning to it with the idea of buying something used but i don't totally understand what i need or how it works.
- can i buy something like what's in this box or do i need to make sure to buy a 80 series specific unit?
- do i need to buy an additional harness?
- does something plug into my existing trailer harness and if so how do i know what i need?
- shouid i get the off road version (and how do i know if this is one of those) as long as i am doing this?
- also what is this "tow pro link"? is it sold separately from what is in this box? does it replace what's in the box?
thanks for any help here...

You don't need the tow pro link.

The standard RedArc brake controller will work for 99% of trailers you'd ever hook to an 80. There isn't a plug-n-play solution for an 80 series. You'll have to run your own wiring for the brake controller, from battery to the controller on a self resetting circuit breaker, and then from the controller to the 7pin trailer plug on your rear bumper. you'll also need to provide a brake input to the controller, as well as a ground. Only 4 wires, so not a big deal,

What are you trying to tow that you need a brake controller for?
